For the third time! I hope I can leave work early in time to get there. If anyone wants to hang around town for drinks after the show, I'm down.

They started a bit early, but they played a good set and the venue was interesting. Not sure what the cover was that they played. Down was funny to watch and I got to smoke inside. The t-shirts were 30 dollars. I don't know why the t-shirts were 30 dollars.

say what now?  what happened to $25?     if the shirt prices have raised $10 in $5 increments since this tour started I am not going to be humored.  as much as I love MELVINS, thats bullshit.

wait. they were $20 at the start of the tour?? I am with you glen, if they keep going up that will not be cool. Fortunately I got mine for $25, but goddamn guys, this is Melvins, not Down.

It's most likely arena fees that are raising the prices.  Taxes, plus fees..etc..I've got a rough breakdown somewhere, let me find it.

I'm hoping the melvins stick some in their truck and sell some straight to the fans..

arena fees?  what the fuck is that?  is the arena fee not included in the price of the ticket?
so now the arenas feel it needs to dip into merch sales?

my urge to go to concerts dwindles.

Melvins destroyed, more on that later.  Gotta hit the road soon. About the shirts, they only had the "german emblem" one, no "See You In Hell". I too was shocked at the $30 tag.

Many venues (like HOB), take a cut of the band's merch sales, so they likely raised the price not to lose money,  or else the Melvins are just thinking maybe some Down fans will buy their swag at that price.
I'm hoping they're $15 like normally tonight in Buffalo. That sucks if they're sold out of the "See You In Hell" shirt.

add:

Venue was too huge for this show. Down just doesn't draw like Pantera probably used to. I'd say it holds 3-5000, and there were maybe 1000 people there. Looked like a lot of Down fans(could tell by them all wearing identical Down shirts ) were into the Melvins. I was right up front, had no problems with bonehead moshers. They kept it in the middle for the most part.

I must say POTRE this night and in Buffalo was just crushing . I think that song is sort of the Melvins way of saying to every stoner rock/drone metal band who's been influenced by them "hey this is how it's done fuckers"

VERY boomy/echoey sound in there, but still sounded good for the Melvins especially on Dies Araea and songs with quiet parts. Down sounded like one loud din, Phil was doing too much crowd sing along shit. The fuckin' dude can still scream, I'll give him that.  I lasted for about 4 songs. Got bored and headed home.
