So, I imagine you think their stuff like COD, Prick, Chicken Switch an' whatnot just a waste of time? What about say the intro to Anti Vermin Seed? Oh actually, there are drums on that so it rocks! I donno if this sounds implausible to you ... or even stupid ... you really must have very little imagination ... there is tons of great music without drums ... spanning hundreds of years ... if the prospect of one or two songs w/out drums out of such a vast catologe is really so distateful; I really can't understand how you are a Melvins fan? If they did this I wouldn't be surprised in the least ... they've sure as hell done weirder things ...

I actually do consider myself an imaginitve person, I play/write music. I could see a song or 2 without drums, but a whole album???? Dale Crover's drumming is maybe the main reason I listen to the Melvins!! BTW,   COD and Prick= bad ass,  Chicken Switch = ass

Agreed.  A few songs with only cymbals for percussion would be very cool.  In fact it could be downright fantastic.  The best Melvins albums are the ones that are more diverse and dynamic.  An entire record of this silliness would not a dynamic record make.

I don't think the Melvins have EVER taken 2 years to release an album.

Nickoctane, now yer talking ... yeah, I said originally a whole album would be overkill; a few songs thou sounds sweet! No offence intended by the unimaginitive swipe ... I was addressing your comment in a kinda generalized overview of Melvins "fans" that only seem to dig 'em when they RAWK! man. That's where I thought you may be coming from. Melvins' unpredictability, their willingness to just do whatever the fuck they want is really what nails it for me ... although they could throw that around a little more these days I think ... 'bout time for another COD or somethin'. Indeed sir, COD & Prick are completely badass ... thou, I'd stick Chicken Switch in there too ... finally grabbed it the other day ... sat down with a fatty ... I donno, I though it was smokin' ... just what I was hoping for ... noisy, weird, and pretty much "beatless" ... thou, the Queen remix blows all kinds of huge phallus! Usually remix means Reznor or Jorgusen type bullshit ... step outta the freakin' 90's already ... think I'll listen to it again now!

dales paiste cymbals sound amazing, but a whole album with just cymbals would get boring. its dale fucking crover... you dont want to hear him just using cymbals, you want to hear him going full bore on the drums. utilizing all he has.

Mind that I am only speaking of "proper" studio albums: POTRE -'04, ASA-'06, NWB-'08, TBSM-'10. Looks like two years between albums to me, give or take a couple months.

ok, Big Business, yes, GREAT sound, who else could come CLOSE to fill the melvins sized  shoes?

I expect them to take up the MELVINS mantle as it were, I mean Buzz, n dale... guys will eventually have to "pass the torch" and retire, I mean EVENTUALLY.

my frineds were tossing the concecpt around that the melvins may live on as a band long after buzz and dale are departed from this existance...I think it would be cool if their musical legacy lives on after they died, how many bands can do that?

a sort of "passing the torch" to their chosen apprentacies?!?!?!?

I mean, napalm death is a good example, but I think only ONE guy from the lineup of like 24 people has actually DIED...

so what about that? buzz and dale are dead, and there will still be music released under the MELVINS name???

I'm a huge freakin' tool, so yeah I'm sure I'd buy it if it said melvins on it!

I really want people to kind of ponder that for a while...REALLY...

gesundheit

I don't see the value in pondering that, AT ALL.
