Having been a Melvins fan for the last 6 years, I have always been curious as to where the King Buzzo moniker comes from? I know his real name is Roger(I think) and that he use to go by just Buzz, then Buzzo. So, where did it all start?

King because in his mind he's rock royalty, Buzz because he was always drunk
or high in the beginning, and O for his last name Osborne

(PAUL)

Dan Raymond once told me (on the old Melvins -L email thing) that Tom Flynn came up with King Buzzo. No idea where Buzz originally came from.
Hail, not fail.
PS:  fuck him.

Shatz

John M. Osbourne = Ozzy
Roger E. Osborne = Buzzo

Simple as that!

(((O)))

I wondered whether it was because he perhaps had a embarrassing "buzz cut" hairstyle some time back as a youth. That's why he recorded The Water Glass cos it reminds him of his days in the Marines, being self choked, beat with soap wrapped in towels late at night, sleeping with his rifle and being made to pay for smuggling one jelly donut into base. Oh sorry that was Full Metal Jacket.

i heard they called him "buzzo" because he used to carry a satchel of vibrators wherever he went.
he earnt "king" when his collection of vibes grew to epic proportions.
i say i can't, but i really mean i won't.

According to an interview with him that I read a while ago he said that his family called him Buzz since he was a kid.. After the astronaut Buzz Aldren.

-I like the satchel of Vibrators story better though

I'm sticking with my interpretation.
