Rhetoric Camel

I haven't been on this site in a while. I'd have to say the video was decent, fits the melvins pretty well I think. It also fits in with the hardcore scene quite a bit. I enjoyed it but not enough to watch it numerous times.

embah

how can you not like this video? It was too short though

It was the perfect length.  Exactly as long as the song. :D

Hey Behn,

Is there any story behind this video, like some plot? Or is it just general weirdness? :D

behnfannin (2 months ago)

well i do love strange for the sake of strange, but heres what my general idea was:
the man in the beginning is a being that exists in our world in human form, and when he breaks the rules by transforming into his true form, a inter-dimensional police office or sorts is sent in to arrest him. The being sets off to find refuge in a safe house for creatures like himself, not realizing that as he goes he is altering the fabris of reality, which act as clues "telling" the police officer where to go.

jesus fucking christ only the melvins could come up with the weirdest shit. this was the weirdest video i eva saw and 4 real a fucking ball of clay comes out of a turkey but anyways

behnfannin (2 months ago)
it was my pleasure to weird you out.

behnfannin (2 months ago)
actually, i came up with the idea for it.
but they approved it so...hoo-rah and stuff!

Total shroom trip. Talking trees and buildings, pigments bleeding out of eyes, Demon insect crawling out of a mans hand whos head later becomes a delicious cake?!

I just wish I was with the melvins when they were "inspired" for this video...

behnfannin (4 months ago)
sorry, please play again.
i am the human that came up with the concept and created this video.
i wrote, directed, shot, and edited it - and i did all of that without being "inspired" by hallucinogens.
i have found that they are an unearned run.
i let the song inspire the imagery.
of course, they approved my ideas, so who knows what they're on.
thanks for writing.

The whole cake thing is fully a rip off of a 198? Cars video that had an Alice in Wonderland theme.

behnfannin (2 days ago)
actually that was a tom petty video.
"dont come around here no more"
someone else pointed that out to me as well after i made this video.
it probably got stuck in my sub-conscious years ago.
but on that note - at least i didnt just completely blatantly reuse a standard, very well known story like they did in their video!
suck on that one tom petty!

1sinze (2 days ago)
Ack...You're right...Tom Petty. Is the video about Heroin or LSD?

behnfannin (1 day ago)
my video?
neither.
but if i had to attach a chemical to it id say... peanut butter.
yes, peanut butter.

when the being reaches the safe house the gatekeeper gives him a disguise, and then is destroyed by the police officer.
the police officer uses a "seeing worm" to locate the being he is looking for. in the end the unknowing of what is in the box is what causes the police officer to be destroyed. he becomes what he fears, as we see in the box was a cake cutter, and he has become a cake. they eat him as a means of absorbing his power.

it is a comment on social duress in times of mass migration. land bridges and so forth, with a cinnamon twist.

nastyfreq (2 months ago)
It was really funny when I watched it for the first time: the cake cutter and the cake instead of a head... this was just so over the top weird that I burst in a laugh. :D
However your explanation added soo much to the video. Great job!

Also do you think people who view this will get it? Is it your obective to make them understand or you don't care?

behnfannin (2 months ago)
thanks!
no, i dont really expect anyone to actually follow the storyline, but i think having a story allowed me to add details to the characters and have the images feel more cohesive. also, i think even though it may not be clear on a surface level, having a storyline will allow people to get engaged on a subconscious level. as though they get the feeling that there is something more going on here than a bunch of effects and imagery.
although, i suppose that is debatable!

This is the greatest. I'm glad I finally found this information. I used to watch this video on the front page several times a day. Way before I ever found my way to the bbs.
