do a search for "melvins" on this page for some info from the likes of dave grohl and kris novoselic (from his book "of grunge & government"). i've never seen any of this before

so far this is an O.K. article, written by Krist, and it seems like it will offer some nice information on early melvins activities, but lines like this make me homicidal:
"One time, while standing in front of a club with some friends, we got hit by eggs tossed out of a passing muscle car. Laughing, we wiped away the egg on our tattered flannel with the same hands we used to wash away society's conformity. Self-assured in our personal liberation, ridicule from conformists couldn't upset true punks."
what kind of person could say something like this and not spontaneously explode into flames in a severe case of over-inflated self-importance?

my dog doesn't conform to society, and she doesn't even need to wear tattered flannel and spike hair,  she must be more punk than thou.

No kidding- I can't see anyone writing that with a straight face.
It's all fucking good-dini as far as I'm concerned. Then again, I'd eat a MELVINS deep fried turd. GO MELVINS!!

don't get me wrong, the rest of the article was pretty good, and in the next paragraph he goes on to say things that i agree with. (about punks wearing uniforms and that sort of thing)  i was just surprised at the way those couple of lines came out of nowhere and receded again.  not too important i suppose.

Theres only so many ways the story of Nirvana can be told.  Its all been said at this point.  I like the music, but enough of the mythology already.  Not really worth sifting through all of that just to find a few lines about Kurts friendship with Buzz.

Krist is a nice guy though...got to meet him when he was playing in Eyes Adrift.  Too bad they were a horrible band.

i don't think they were horrible, but it seemed a little bit misguided. it was cool on a certain level. it seems like, and even from what i've read, that krist wasn't particularly interested in doing music seriously after nirvana. he said something like he was doing it out of habit, although it was a "good habit".
