i've been listening to each melvins album and trying to decide what mood, or visual image they give me.  (this is what happens when you live in a tiny dorm room and like to put off work) here are my findings, i'd love to hear what other people think...

Eggnog: dirty medieval castle with deranged horses running around circles around it.  or anything very very grimy.  grime yes.

Electroretard: a hyper child with too much time on his hands that gets into the medicine cabinet and draws eclectic pictures on all the walls.  and then he gets really smart somehow.

Bullhead: the point of view of someone with severe tunnel vision looking around a dark room with giant (really huge) bales of hay falling on him constantly. but he likes it!

Hostile Ambient Takeover: This one kinda makes me think about an outer-space research center being attacked by all sorts of alien fleets

10 Songs: Lots of sweaty people jumping up and down really slow at the same time, but they are kind of behind some sort of translucent screen, so i can just about see them, but i have no idea why they are doing what they are doing what they are doing.  and sometimes they all fall down and get up real slowly.  they are all dirty and the room is filthy too..

Gluey Porch Treatments: outside, late dusk, many elephant-like sharp looking creatures stomping around near some really tall rock or something hard formations, and there is an earthquake and all the rocks are falling and making huge craters, but there is a laserlight show in the sky, and everything is hazy and kinda dark and there is a cloud of dust everywhere you can see.  or maybe it's just a really really large room with giant cielings, so big that you can't see to the ends, it gets too dark, and there is nothing in the whole room and it is made of concrete and it is vibrating.

for all of these, there are some hot pink laser ribbon things flying around which are very happy and everpresent in each image, like the good humor of buzz and the gang.

i didn't want to make this too long, oops.  i want to hear what other people think of when they hear melvins albums.

Leroy

Stag- Some sort of scientist experimenting making a bunch of weird potions (like the bubble-sounding song), and occasional headbanging from heavy rock.

Stoner Witch - Some guys riding in both pickup trucks and motorcycles

Lysol - Makes me think of some really tall, huge mountain

Bullhead- A breeze of pot smoke in the air

Anonymous

Gluey porch treatment: very huge monolith alone in the middle of nothing, very dark

Lysol about the same as GPT

Bullhead: a drone,a mecanical robot hovering in space

Notice how gpt is always about a huge mountain or something big

yeah, gpt is like a big empty room but so big that you cant see the edge.

Vcavallo

i agree with all of the above...i like the hovering robot thing, and especially like the motorcyles/pickup truck thing..that seems ot fit real well.  more more!

Houdini--- I think about the Kennedy Assasination.

( I purchased it on my birthday, November 22, the year it  came out. That's all I saw on TV and the Melvins was all that was playing on my radio.)

the maggot is nothing but machines to me.  everything is very mechanical sounding.  lysol- the huge fucking mountain.  the bootlicker- i don't know but a very cool mood. gpt- a few rowdy kids playing slow ass heavy punk music.  dale is god.

GodDammit

brain center at whipples

Gluey Porch Treatments- I think of what the apocaypse would be like.

Stag- Walking through a vast desert on LSD.

Houdini- Riots

Leroy

When I think of Bootlicker, I think of the woods and trees for some reason.  Probably because there are all clean guitar tones, I picture less distortion and a more natural sound or something.  "Up the Dumper" and "Long Rose Holding Now" are great songs.

The Chalupa

so many of their albums have a flower located somewhere on the cover
