I've listened to this albums quite a few times and probably more than what some fans ever will. It's received mixed reviews and tons of criticism from people who witnessed it live and on CD. In yet, it's one of Buzz's favorite things they've done and I completely understand why. But, I think it could have been turned into something even cooler. At the end of the track they flow into Eye Flys. What if they did that as a double CD and released the whole second half of the show on the second disc? I wonder if anyone has a bootleg of that nights show.

I'm sure at least one of the freaks on this here board has audio, if not video, of that night's show.

I'd almost rather they put out another CoD-style full length than another 'straight' live show recording (especially in the wake of Melvins VS. Minneapolis)... but really that sort of thing is more fun live -- i rarely if ever listen to CoD at home or in the car, for obvious reasons. I wish they'd throw in a show like that once in a while though in the middle of an album-promoting tour like the NwB tour they're on right now. Don't get me wrong, i loves me my Melvins live any way they care to serve it up, but, having seen them as early as '92 and many many many times since, the kinda feeling that anything could happen at one of their shows has been missing in recent years. one of the best Melvins shows i ever saw was that first time, they opened for Mr. Bungle in Anaheim CA and played a loud as fuck drone set for about 1/2 hour or 45 minutes-- i don't think there were any 'songs' that night-- and walked off stage. awesome. maybe it was Hung Bunny but i didn't know their music then, to me at the time it was kinda like how a Sunn 0))) show is now.

anyhow, i'm thankful they still exist, and will be going to see them live til they don't exist anymore -- Melvins are still the best shit going.

I'm hoping they do a CoD style noise set at one of the troubadour shows. They're playing two nights in a row and I've just got a feeling they have something up their sleeves.

(the) Razor

Maybe they'll do what MF Doom did, just get 4 fat guys to go up on stage for them, all dressed up, and get them to mime the whole set.

don't put such nightmarish thoughts in my head!

steve

They already have 2 fat guys... so it's not much of a stretch.

Any, yes, I could be one of the fat guys....  :(

Leroy

Wait, don't you mean 3 fat guys? (dale, buzz, jared)

anaconda

I bought COD when it came out, then sold it, then bought it a 2ND TIME, then sold it again to the used CD store.

I am the Sun

So I take it you didn't like it?

anaconda

two years later I asked for a download of it here and got it from a board
member in a PM, then after a few months i deleted that file to save space on
my drive. hahaha, it's a release that haunts me. I just hated how every time
I tried to skip to track 2 it took me right back to the beginning of the CD/
I was also expecting an album like Electroretard at the time so I was bummed.

I'm positive I'll get it again and re-assess it once more

kinda like the Grumpy's 3cd set.. I own it for the sake of owning it.
I got to be on a real melvins binger to bust it out for a listen, which happens.. occasionaly.

that version of eye flys makes it all worth while though.  look at it like the pinnacle in melvins dragged out song intros.  it makes that version of eye flys that much better.

i love this album...i didn't like it at 1st, then like most of my favorite Melvins tunes it really grew on me.  i like days were i can just throw this on and get stoned.

does anyone have a recording of the 2nd half of the show???  if the rest of the set is anything like Eyes Flys i'd like to hear it.

Jaron

Jesus, I wonder why they didn't do a record for it.
