Okay I know his whole setup as far as what he plays and what the settings are but here's my problem:  When I hook up the beta lead preamp and run the Boss bass overdrive in front of it, it doesn't sound anything like Buzzo's live sound.  I was wondering if maybe someone knew exactly how everything gets hooked up between his rack and pedals and if anyone else with a similar setup noticed this???

if you had Angus Youngs exact guitar rig, like the "exact" thing in front of you, chances are it will not sound the same.
thats just the way it is, most of a guitarists sound is in their fingers.

sounds like im being an ass but its true and your probably experiencing this.
i too have a beta lead... and 6-7 other amps and when i play them they are not the same as the dudes that make em sound great.
similar... yes but not quite right, hopefully oneday they will make guitarist plug ins.

rock.

cheers.

I should have been more specific...its not the overall sound that's got me puzzled but there's insane amounts of unusable feedback like if I stop playing, instant uncontrollable feedback.  That's what has got me swingin

Are you set up on on the stage of a large club, or in your 10' x 10' bedroom?

step away from the amp!
and chris p.'s question... what guitar do you have? I doubt its a 30+ year old gibson les paul is it?
I remember i used to have a DOD Distortion pedal and in the instruction booklet it gave you the settings for a melvins sound.

Rusty Shackleford

unusable feedback?  bah!

I wanted to sound like Buzz too.  The beta wasn't quite getting it there so I started slammin smack and BAM, there it was.

i have a 1975 gibson silverburst i got it off a old guitar shop here that was shutting down.i also have a gibson hummingbird acoustic guitar from 65.but with the 75 i still had a feedback problem not from standing to close just most musicans use things like bbe's to help with clean sound.

nice.
I dont know about adam jones's settings and amp set ups.... but I do know he has an unusual Les Paul... a slivertone or something like that wich apparantly was made in limited numbers and has a very odd tone. And its like someone else said... its all in the fingers and the style you play that you get that extra signature tone. You can have geddy lees rickenbacker and cabs and shit but you wouldnt be able to mimick his crisp tone... its in his fingernails and inside his muscles... its a beutiful thing.

thats right you said it best right there.i never try to sound like no one else i played metal for years but now that i am 27 my style has changed not because i wanted it to just because when u get older your music style changes.now i play more of a blues type style like allman brothers/bb king.
