This was my first time seeing them live, and what a show, simply incredible is all I can say. Got there pretty early, we were actually the first 2 people in the line and felt like total fanboys  :P Once we got in we were treated to the biggest tease ever as they played through the entire of Civilised Worm for soundcheck, whilst hidden behind a curtain.

Not much merch at the show, got a tee in XL just to have it, plus a poster for our show and one for the show the night before in Ireland.

Porn came on, and were stunning, and very loud, everybody seemed to be into despite the harshness at points. Overall the crowd was good all night, not much moshing and only a couple of crowd surfers. Big Biz were also fantastic, although Dale

Always fun to hear about someones first Melvins show.  Lookin forward to your pics...

Jared's a beast on that thar bass gitar, yes sir. How do the posters look?

No_I_Have_Not

The posters are cool, the one for the Ireland show is kinda psychadelic and based around a picture of Alestair Crowley with various other pagan stuff going on all around. The one for the the Concorde show is a line drawing of  a pigs head in clown get-up, with a luminous pink snout and cheeks, and i think parts glow in the dark  :D Both are pre-signed by the band too, guess this is a standard thing for them to do?

Also has anyone heard the name Gareth Turner in relation to the Melvins? My Ireland poster has 'Gareth Turner smokes cock' written on at the bottom

I can't believe they played Boris and I missed it! Curses...  I had to leave after only about 45 minutes of the Melvins' set to catch the last train back to London. Still, what I saw was most enjoyable. The version of Eye Flys that they staggered through was stomach-churning and Honey Bucket was downright visceral. It certainly aggravated a neck injury I caused myself while seeing Budgie a few weeks ago.

Though if I had one criticism it'd be that Big Business just went on and on and on and on and on... I appreciate that they're an album-releasing band in their own right and half of the Melvins, but Christ almighty! Would it have killed them to have left a few tracks unplayed? Porn, after all, only got to play for about 20 minutes and Business got damn near an hour: an hour of, to my mind, not particularly top-notch material.

Still, the Nude With Boots material all worked very well and I even found myself enjoying some tracks from Senile Animal which surprised me as I wasn't that into that album. Indeed, Nudie's kinda reaffirmed my faith in the band and Monday's show left me hungry for more. Particularly brilliant was the interplay between Dale and Coady...two drummers and both utterly necessary. Roll on December's ATP!

Shit man, I'd have loved to have seen Big Business do a 1-hour set..

I'm pretty sure the guy who sold the merch on the Europe tour was called Gareth.  He had an English accent, and I remembered this from Brian Walsby's tour diary in Manchild 3 : "Gareth is a real life Englishman who is the guitar tech."

Cheers for the review and pics!

I believe he used to play bass in The Heads.

Nope, pretty sure that's him in the pic. The bald british sounding guy. I know who you're talking about though, I think they took turns selling merch.  At least when I saw them.
