Why do people mention they're from the Melvins.net?

newsflash:   walsby is a member here as well.   my name is pretty simple.  perhaps he would recognize it.  and he did.

plus I feel really cool like maybe I am a bigger fan than the losers in line outside the joint who said "I hope the melvins play music tonight and not just noise.  I was at this show once and they played feedback for like an hour straight.  dude.. it was crazy!"   8-[

I didn't know Walsby was a member here, still, don't know if I'd mention it.. It still pangs a bit to me of introducing yourself as of a more tuned-in fan than everyone else in the queue, and maybe that wasn't your specific intention, but can you see how it might come across? I dunno, whatever, that's how I might take it after a tours-worth of hearing it.

I imagine ol' B. Walsby will be here soon enough and get a peek at this thread, sit back in his chair and think to himself "wow, if these losers didn't just prove my point...."

and thats okay.

becuase I'm good enough.   I'm smart enough.  and dog gone it,   people like me.

Quote3. CREEPY OBSESSIVE MELVINS FANS THAT ARE ALSO "COLLECTORS". Running neck and neck with the drunks, these guys (and I do mean guys, there was not a single woman that I encountered that was like this) are super fucking annoying, the kind of guys that liked the band a little bit too much for their own good, the kind of people that would pee their pants if "King Buzzo" (not Buzz, note the difference.) walked on by, the kind of guy who would whine about getting the poster marked "69" out of all of the show posters, the kind of guy who would complain about how the band had some insignificant piece of merchandise the year before and on and on it goes. To a man, I barely tolerated all of these basement trolls and secretly felt sorry for them.

Hmmmm....I wonder if I qualify as a creepy collector since I bought one his self made Melvins posters that he was selling for $20 a pop?

I'm slightly confused by his statements.  Sarcasm or reality, I'm not sure what to think.  Basically it boils down to me knowing I wasn't ever a douch to him, I lurked a bit looking at all the stuff for sale, but I never spilled beer or called myself the biggest Melvins fan in the universe.

Done caring.

cara

He's right about the awkward relationship between the performer and then fan.

"Some of these folks are flying around the friggin' country to see the band..like they are following the Dead or maybe at least Phish! "

Is he implying that they arent worth following around the country to see?

ManWithNoName

What's the big deal? As if we didn't already know we are all bunch of weirdos?!

Eye in Triangle

I must say, I find people pissing their pants over Buzz walking by a lot less weird than people who would piss from excitement if they came within 100 feet of Lindsay Lohan or Paris Hilton .

Why do you all care about what he says about you? If you like the Melvins, buy their stuff and see them live. It's really all that simple.

As I recall, most of the '08 summer show reviews that I've read here on the board, state that Brian was very nice and that several of the board members also left him a little extra cash. Many of us here have also followed the Melvins since way back..and we flock to see them perform live as much as we can. (like Dead fans? yes.) Brian had positive thoughts aimed towards 'us' in the paragraph that glen posted and thoughts that I found not so positive.
(I have yet to click on the link that b. stallion posted - I'm sure I will when I find the time)

I personally didn't attend a 2008 summer show..so I didn't cross paths w/ Mr. Walsby. When I think about the Melvins merchandise/music that I've purchased over the years, I can't think of any Walsby items that are included in this accumulation.

Bottom line..I'm a Melvins fan, not a Walsby fan.

And the member most likely to be one of the Melvins is....

Seriously though, it's not that I care about what he thinks, or will change my opinion or actions because of him, I just like the sound of my own voice.

I saw Brian 4 times, early on in the tour.  He was very cool to me, even chatted with me for a bit while I perused his posters.  I can imagine getting burned out too, after 6 weeks.

becuase I am very..  VERY sensitive.

I know you just recently had a baby, but don't worry, you hormone fluctuations will stabilize. It is a natural process.
