Someone had a great avatar addressing this. An off screen entity takes a stick and pokes Buzz's hair. This causes a bunch of animals to scurry, including, at the end, a western gorilla. I can't remember any of the other animals, maybe a bird was in there too. Funny as hell.

As the real early stuff he didn't have that and he had it around the head on the door period, I thought that's how it was. I thought he just grew it later.
