MELVINS aren't as good as i thought!

Been getting back into some Melvins stuff again recently after not paying them much attention of late (been too busy listening to more heavy hitting metal type acts like Pig Destroyer, Meshuggah, and erm Opeth! - they dudes suck of course tho) and anyway strangely i find the Melvins guys (and Fantomas too) much less appealing than i did before. Im not gonna say they're rubbish but they just don't sound A W E S O M E to me now like they once did. To my own surprsie i've hardly even really delved into 'Nude With Boots' that much too! Gotta say the only amazing Melvins stuff i really rate is 'Pigs Of The Roman Empire' and 'The Maggot' but everything else (especially some of those naffy, hilariously unhilarous Stag tunes) i can leave well alone. Is my Melvins worship finally come to an end? Do you guys have moments where your normally unshakeable Melvins belief is questioned? And is Mr Buzzo himself not as much a musical god to me now, more of a foolish oaf with an irritating laugh and smart arse demenour? All this is beginning to make me wonder whether it is impossible to like one artist/act for years. After a while does every band sound a bit boring and no longer does the business for ya! Im sad to think of the answers  :( Rant away i guess!

I'm not bored of em yet, but who's to say what will happen in the future? I went back to Stoner Witch last week and I think I enjoyed it even more than back when it was the only Melvins album I had. Now I have, er, many many albums. I think they've remained distinctive whilst evolving and changing a lot throughout the years and that's cool. I haven't really listened to _that_ many bands as intently to find out about them though, they could all be like that for all I know! The more you know, the less you think you know.

Change is good though! It's healthy. Rotation of the record collection is fine by me.

The Melvins are probably the only band I have grown to like more and more over the years. I always dug their stuff but over the years seem to appreciate them more than I did when I first discovered them.  When its completely opposite for other bands I like or liked.

Well i find it hard to believe that you find these bands "heavy hitting" while finding the Melvins boring.. perhaps you would like the Melvins more if they became a mediocre prog rock band?

The Melvins are the only band I've never become bored with.  Not once in 18 years have I thought that I needed to take a break.  There isn't a single other band that I've thought that way about.
