Same set list w/ Revolve.  Amazing sound.
Liked how they ended Boris at the beginning of their tour more compared to now.

Greatest band in the history of music.

That is all...

Agreed. Great sound at this venue. I drove up from San Diego not having been to the Troubadour before. I left at about eight and made it to see most of the Big Business set. Got to the bar and put down a Bushmills and a Heineken and I was set. I took some pictures at this show too. These ones are color and I will most likely be able to share them with you sooner than later. Buzz seemed a little more uppity for this show. In San Diego he was great but not like tonight. The merch that was in San Diego (toilet with legs sticking out poster, isn't that called a melvin?) was here too.Though there was no cd's in SD they had a few BB albums this time around. There was a new poster too but I didn't have enough money. I wanted to beg for the belt buckle which was twenty and I only had a ten in my pocket buuuuut I spared them. And i will spare the rest of you as well...time to sleep..

Dog Island was worth the price of admission alone. Can't wait for tonight to do it all over again!

Wow, that was really awesome last night. Did any of you guys make it for Porn's set? It really showed that the Melvins haven't even come close to utilizing the Coady/Dale duo to its fullest extent.

Big Business was really good too, but after seeing Porn's set it seemed kind of tame in comparison.

I think one of my favorite moments of the show was their take on Boris. When I first started going to Melvins shows I always hoped that they'd play Boris. Well, this year my wish came true and I wasn't disappointed. In fact, I'd love for them to re-record Boris with this line-up. Last night the Melvins took a very different approach to Boris, transforming it from a heavy, doomy rocker to something much more haunting. the entire band came together to show off the Melvins trippier, darker sound.

Jared wasn't necessarily singing along with the entire song. Instead, his vocals during the heavy parts seemed to lend emphasis to certain lyrics and phrases. I thought the way they did the quiet part was actually really cool sounding. Jared climbed into the audience, first entering by crouching and slowly leaning into my face and singing. Then Buzz and Jared continued to mumble, whisper, and chant the rest of the lyrics to the song, with Jared adding some of his own sounds as well. This was also backed up with Dale and Coady making their headsets feedback. It kind of sounded like the band had a bad hangover or something.

All in all it was a really awesome show. The setlist covered a lot of ground in terms of representing the many levels of their sound. My only complaint is that I couldn't really hear anything but bass during Tipping the Lion but I think that was mostly because of my location and not the fault of the sound guy. As a matter of fact, that's some of the best sound I've heard at a show.

Were you the guy with the Burning Witch shirt on?

I am the Sun

Yep, that was me. With my little brother who towers like, a foot over me, probably headbanging and lookin' like an idiot

Did any of you get your hair sniffed by Jared?
Who was the two guys with dreads near Jared?

he mentioned the hair-sniffing at tonights show, telling everyone how intoxicating that man's hair smell was and asking if any women would come up so he could smell their hair.

Speaking of tonights show, it wasn't too different in terms of music. It was the same setlist w/revolve and the slowed down creepy version of Oakie from Muskogee at the very end. I think tonight's show sounded better but was mostly due to my standing in a better position than last night. On a lot of the songs I couldn't really hear the guitar because I was standing in front of Jared's amps, but tonight I was on Buzz's side so the guitar actually reached my ears. Everything seemed a lot heavier as well, probably because of the much more even balance my ears were receiving this time around. The set list was identical this time. the only differences were -

Porn played about 8 minutes longer and a girl, illuminated by a green spotlight, did a hula-hoop dance at the front of the stage for most of the set. The low end rumbling and the way the colored spotlight made the girl look reminded me of David Lynch's films, particularly  Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive

Jared stayed on stage and added delayed vocals to Oakie From Muskogee

Dale got on stage and did a hula-hoop dance during Oakie

The band seemed a lot more into it.

Who was wearing the Funkadelic shirt in the audience?  What about the Black Flag shirt?  I spied you guys in the front of the stage two nights in a row.

Funkadelic was me. Black Flag was my brother. Where were you?

I was basically five people away from both of you both nights.  I was on the corner of the stage.  You guys are stalking me!  I bet you both have sore necks now.   Did the stripper, dancing ring girl, look good close up during Porn's set?

Did you come with a friend, you both have dark, or maybe black, hair?  I think I see you at just about every Melvins show.

Yeah, I came with a friend, he had a blond afro.

I've only been to two Melvins shows.
