haha...ME! and I'm bringing a Melvins first timer with me too! Hasn't even heard them before but has always heard that they were playing, etc. since he used to live in LA. I figure a show like this will be a good intro for him. Maybe play a few songs on the stereo over to the show but he's gonna hear some great shit for sure.

Yes, I survived. But eeerrrggggghhhh it's 7:00 on friday night and I want to drive to hollywood to seem them play at the troubadour...should I do it? does that place sell out quick??? I cant find a number to call direct...argh.

So Wednesday night I met up with the dude I mentioned earlier in this thread. The new-comer to Melvins. I wasn't previously sure of his musical appetite but I knew it was anything but extraordinary. He's kind of a jockish dude and he is 22 & he told me that he hadn't been to a live show since he was in his high school days and the shows that he told me about were all kinda weakish lame stuff. Well not TOOO bad I guess but stuff like a three-hour Metallica set, his first concert was seeing RHCP in Ireland (he's irish), Coldplay(?!?) and then claiming Linkin Park puts on a hell of a show. Uhhh yea. It was ok though because I didn't care. I didn't even care to argue with anything he was saying. Just nodding and smiling. I was about to see the Melvins. And he would have his musical horizons expanded without a doubt. And what a hell of a way to do it?

We witnessed the majority of the porn set (unbelievable) and watched all of Big Business from pretty much right in front of Jared. At that point his expectations were destroyed and what he had witnessed so far was grueling, heaviness of the likes that have never been experienced before..In aww with his jaw hangin' from his skull he said, "I like the drums." I agreed. Then we agreed that for the Melvins we would pursue getting a spot in a balcony area of Canes. I got a great spot and I took some shots, mostly Melvins. The setlist is fantastic. They nail the songs. Coady and DC are shaking the fucking building. The drums made the concert so awesome for my buddy. He really dug all of it. I guess it's hard not to. The setlist has too much dynamic to not enjoy it. Jared's Boris closing rampant, ranting rampage was really raw. He was pretty much taking people out with the microphone chord, for one, freaking out about personal space and yelling at, head-stomaching, and cuddling with audience goers from throughout the crowd. Genuine genius. Definitely gave the show a different flavor to end it for my buddy. Though I had expected it.

Some guy had mentioned to Buzzo before Okie that he thought the show was weak. Buzz told us and quoted him as saying TO King Buzzo that he was upset that he had "paid twenty dollors for this crap." Yeaaa, wow. Umm bold..or just fucking retarded? He wanted more music from the "good ol' days." Buzz then said, "I remember the good ol' days...(pause)(pause)...and they weren't that good." {{{laughter}}} "Were gonna go waaaay back with this one right here though" and commences playing Okie from Muskogee. Which mellowed everyone out and we were all just happy like a big family....all in all calling it a fantastic show wouldn't be giving it justice. Though if I had one gripe it would be that the vocals weren't loud enough through the pa. I wont have any pictures ready from this show for a while but I will try to post them here when I've printed them.
