It was a fabulous jazzrock piece (kinda reminded me of Can with Didier Malherbe or something) but I really have no idea what it was.

they usually play "Bitch's Brew" by Miles Davis (they did in Casbah and few other times I've seen the Melvins). My favorite Miles album. fuzzed out & echo-y trumpet, crackling drum beats, and rumbling bass lines meandering through the back road of your green mind.

They've moved on from Bitches Brew. It might have been Miles Davis (it was just bass, drums, piano and sax, maybe guitar, though, I think) but with a different band and at a different time; I'm no expert. It'll all come out in the wash, I'm sure.
