I think that's a myth,plus, I don't know if my ears could tell the difference. Also, 70% of the Melvins releases are limited edition specialty gimmickry of the highest order. :D

How are the properties of colored vinyl different from black ,other than visually? I'm not asking to be a smart ass, but am genuinely interested.
