last i recall buzz was using 1 of these:

http://electricalguitarcompany.com/standard_guitar.html

and before that he'd been using a black gibson les paul forever but not no more i guess, as for pedals he's got a couple regular boss overdrive/distortion pedals chained together and the only modulation he uses is a boss delay.  the only time i ever saw the melvins live they were playing at grumpy's in minneapolis last summer and buzz used the opening band's amp but i think for the most part he uses just a normal marshall.  he really doesn't care much about the gear at all and given that he's mostly concerned with a live sound it makes sense.  you don't need anything particularly unique to get the kind of sounds he does especially given the high volume and gain in a live setting.  as for dale as far as i can tell he uses this

and sometimes an equivalent kit from sonor

Ever notice that around the time Buzz started using the Electrical Guitar Company guitars several guitarists followed suit? The ginger dude from Isis, Brent from Mastodon, the guitarist and bassist for Torche use them as well.

That's funny I have seen the Melvins more times than I can remember and I have seen him use all kinds of heads.  Marshall, the Sun Beta Lead era stands out, but for the longest time he has used a rack mount system of which I could not tell you what is involved or who makes it, and 2 Hi Watt cabinets.  He has been usung the Hi- Watt cabinets for a long time now if I am not mistaken.
Oh Yeah!  I forgot to take my pills.....

Yeah but Isis used those guitars BEFORE Buzz did. There's a video on line where he was talking about his new guitar and he mentioned that he got into those guitars off the back of Isis using them. He loved the thinner neck than on a regular guitar. He said that was the feature that really sold it to him and so had a specially built model set up like his old Les Paul. Also i've never actually seen Brent from Mastodon with one tho, it wouldnt surprise me if he did as he seems to chop and change his guitars fairly frequently. I'd love to have one too mind.  :P

ah I see, I had no idea Isis used those before Buzz.

I'm not a 100% sure Brent from Mastodon uses one, but I saw a recent picture of him playing live with a clear body, v-neck guitar with what looked like a metal neck & head. I'm no guitar monkey, though, so I could be wrong.
