Quote from: participantRight you are!  I can't remember which interview it was but when asked what is the most "Rutmanisest" album he's ever played on, he said it was HAT.

that was mark prindle also, good memory there.

and turnacuss: that comment about kevin's guitar sensibilities and buzz's bass thing was a really well placed thought and i think you are right on.  i never thought of it that way.  good one.

Is that girl with the pierced tongue your girlfriend, Anaconda?  If she is, she is too pretty a girl to go around behind her back exploring other girls' nether regions!  Haaaahahaha!

EGO the Living Planet

Of all the MELVINS albums, HAT was probably the one one that grew on me for the longest period of time. I liked it right away, but for the longest time it got better with every listen. Almost all (excepting Houdini, The Maggot, and Stoner Witch) the albums were "growers", but HAT more than the rest. Killer disc. I would be in my Top 5 MELVINS dsic, but I don't know which one to bump (Houdini, Bullhead, Honkey, Lysol, or The Maggot).

Collossus Of Destiny is defineatly NOT a joke. I think it's a great album and I don't need to be stoned to dig it (although it's especially good in that state of mind). I like to put it on while I read. It really creates a great atmosphere. It's also great to through on and space out to. It really clears the mind. I wouldn't play it while driving though. It's not right for that.

Why can't so many MELVINS fans "get" that album (or Prick for that matter) ? Sonic Youth make similar expiremental "noise" albums, but you don't see their fans postin' shit all over the internet about how "Thurston Moore is laughin' at me 'cause I bought SYR 3".  They know the band is streching out and tryin somethin' different, but not to worry 'cause they'll be back to the rock stuff soon enough. Why can't MELVINS fans keep a more open mind like that?

Dr. Gonzo

HAT fucking rules....
I love when bands who are already groundbreaking, break even more ground! Truly unique sound on this album, I wish to hear this style more.

The Piss-Machine

HAT blows my mind daily, not only with regards to the musicianship, but the production as well. They took sonic ideas toyed with in the trilogy (dry and flat drums, nasty/fuzzy bass) and concieved a coherent piece of non-stop, crotch-dripping punk rock.
It works on alot of levels.

even more so in my car!!! the sub bass is mindblowing
