Dale split his snare stand one of the nights Shrinebuilder played LA. I think it might have been the second night.

Split the stand. The metal part.

not surprised to hear that.how did he  fix it?

just noticed your vid kept on going out of focus. you should use manual, stage lighting messes with a cameras autofocus.

One of the problems I discovered, was that the camera has face recognition, so if I wasn't close up on a face, it kept looking for one, trying to focus on one.  When I turned that off, it helped a lot.  Also, and this may or may not make much difference, but most of my recent vids are shot in HD.  They look absolutely awful on youtube compared to putting the dvd in and watching it on a hi-def tv.  But yea, it did lose focus a bit.  Some of my video's it went out for as long as a minute.  but I figured it was easier letting the camera focus for me most of the time, as I was trying to make sure I got good zoom's, and had good shots like when Buzz solo'd or Dale was pounding the shit out of his kit.

Edit:  And your right about the stage lights....I do recall that the brighter the light's the sharper the vid seemed to be.  I'll try the manual focus sometime and see how it works out.

yeah if you practiced the manual focus zooms at home you'd probably suss it fairly quickly. with the lights, as different generics come on during performance and movers change pan, tilt, color or theres more smoke picking up beams (even though theres none in this clip) your camera may spot it and try initially to focus on the light. hence why the vid oddly gets out of focus for a second or so every now and then.

I'll just hijack this thread once more here....

This vid was shot after I turned off the face recognition, and there was a much brighter stage....It hardly loses any focus compared to the other one.

But yea, I'll work on that manual focus, see if I can do better.  Thanks for the tip.

Dale is just one utter of a tasteful drummer. He is obviously extremely capable of ripping out complex riffs and time signatures, but even when he's doing the simplest of beats, its just absolutely genious. He always knows exactly what the song needs.
