I contacted Mackie, and she verified that AMREP's store will be getting CD boxed sets in "sometime within the next couple of weeks".

Dear Melvins.

Within the last couple of weeks I've spent many sleepless nights doing some serious thinking.

I've been collecting your records for +20 years (Buzz and I were born the same year) and I have bought everything you've released - much of the stuff in more than one copy. Every goddamn limited 5", 7", 8", 10", 12", CD, cassette... whatever. Most of the merchandise and a lot of posters. And I was member #83 of the Melvins Army.

But! I've decided I have to let go of the CD Box-set. With 3 kids and an upcoming holiday there's no way I can spend $ +200 on this.

I hope you're not too disappointed about this. And I seriously hope that we will find each other again along the way and share a lot of good experiences together.

I'm sorry.

Best wishes
Peter/Denmark

To be afraid when you are alone, in the dark, faced with the unknown, the unspeakable; that is understandable fear. To be afraid, mortally afraid, in broad daylight, in a crowded city street, that is to know Melvins.

someone buy this guy a box set please?

we could all pitch in like a couple a bucks?

I'm frightened, I wont be able to afford one, but I'd like to feel that I helped someone else get one if I can at least.

Dude, trade or sell some of your doubles...If you really have all that stuff it should be easy...

He'll be buying it on eBay later. Whiner. I have none of those "problems" but I just can't afford to drop $200 on CDs right this minute. Just keep in mind, and I say this as a collector of music for over 20 years, everything is and always will be available. You just may have to wait your turn.

Punk guy is right. If you're willing to pay a certain price, nothing is out of reach. God, these things look awesome as fuck. I covet. I covet.

Of course you're right. And I will undoubtedly regret my decision very soon.

The thing is - living in Denmark I have to pay import taxes on everything I buy from outside the EU. Import taxes on both the boxset and the shipping cost, that is.

My guess is that the shipping alone on the boxset would be $45-50. So the final price for the boxset landed in Denmark would be $350-400.

A couple of years ago I bought another rare Melvins item; the price was $67. The seller wanted to do things very properly, so he chose an expensive shipping, and wrote on the customs declaration that the record was worth $100. I ended up paying around $250 in total.

And still I collect Melvins.....
