WOW! That is fucked up bad! Stop trying to play it, you will ruin your stylus and possibly your cartridge. You are best to try and contact ipecac for a replacement. Actually, I would try contacting their distributor. Ipecac probably won't do anything about it.

I know that small labels that handle their distro will usually handle it for you, no problem. Fat Wreck Chords is known for this.

yeah, JZS has the right idea, I knew there was SOMETHING can be done.

hehe, I was joking BTW (about the car thing)

I might try what JZS said to do with a couple a things I got.

wow, what a bunch of replies!

don't worry, i own plenty of vinyl, i know how to NOT fuck up my shit. i only listened to the lp for maybe 10 seconds and after the jump and skip that happened, i knew the warping was beyond repair.

i contacted ipecac, someone wrote me back and asked me about the label number (IPC-105 in case someone was wondering) and said he would get it all sorted out. we'll see what that means.

melvins vinyl seems to have bad luck with me.  i bought a copy of HONKY on wax a long time ago and that was slightly warped right out of the sleeve.  i had a copy of prick on wax as well, bought it used for $5 and it was fine.  i had all the HAT 7 inches too and those were more or less okay; some were a bit warped though, but nothing too bad.  it seems like 7 inches are harder to warp (or be as noticeable as 12' lps).

I haven't had any experience with the original Nude With Boots covers. Are they too large? Do you think a die-cut DJ sleeve would fit INSIDE the original jacket? You can get blank jackets fairly inexpensively here:

I also recommend these if the jacket is regular size, but just shitty lightweight paper stock:

Around 1.25 shipped and you've gotta order at least 5. I keep all my "good" vinyl in these, then in the original jackets. Of course with a high-quality inner sleeve as well. I recommend Disckeeper Ultimates or Mobile Fidelity sleeves.

No, it wouldn't fit, the NWB jackets are a lighter stock & the vinyl is pretty thin too.....so, I think what happened to 'em was, they were all damaged when they were shrink/shrunk wrapped too tight.....I don't know that's my theory.

punkguysc

It's a decent theory. I recommend the inner support board and a good set of protective plastics. After you flatten it of course.

Ouch, I got one of these too.  I should have taken the hint when the woman selling the merch warned me that some were warped and, while they thought they'd gotten rid of the warped ones, I was buying at my own risk.

But you could've looked at it there and then?

Hey, I never said I was smart.  I was so overjoyed to get the A Senile Animal box for $20 that I wasn't too worried about it.

Yep, if I'd got the ASA box set for $20 I'd have probably lost consciousness and followed through! You did bloody well!

i bought a copy last night, and the girl told me "you know, these are buy at your own risk, cause..." i told her i knew and i wanted it anyway.  sure enough, my copy is warped, but i'll either fix it or hang onto it and be an evil ebay seller years down the line.

(joking about the ebay bit)

Captain CoryCory

my copy almost sounds like a vintage record from the 60s, it's REALLY wierd.

punkguysc

Clean it. You should ALWAYS clean a record before playing it. Even if it is brand new out of the wrapper.

it's a more noticeable warp than i imagined...a spindle clamp might do well here.

side 1 played fine, but the 1st song of side 2 skipped...and the recording definitely sounded thin.
