Melvins have a lot of respect for Isis. And Isis have a huge amount of loyal fans...this isn't Down we're talking about here. Isis has some very quality material. Our standards are set to a certain level because of Melvins, so it's hard for us to get "into" the show when we know we could be hearing more Melvins..

It's really hot in GA today. I bet Jared plays naked again like he did in Birmingham.
Was his wiener visible?

Thats it. How long was the Melvins set? Was it the same as the previous shows?

Show was about 67 minutes.  Here's what I came up with from the tape:

Melvins - 6/14/10
40 Watt Club - Athens, GA

01) Sacrifice
02) The Civilized Worm
03) Black Stooges
04) Pig House
05) Electric Flower
06) Anaconda
07) Black Bock
08) The Kicking Machine
09) Billy Fish
10) The Water Glass
11) Evil New War God
12) Amazon
13) The Talking Horse
14) Hung Bunny
15) Roman Bird Dog

a buddy says they played a little of Lovely Butterfly but I couldn't find it.  I'll post a download link in the next day or two.

Freaking awesome!  Jared is really an underrated bassist.  I think his playing really stood out a bit more than usual.  I was happy that The Melvins played for a little over an hour instead of 45min.  I was getting worried when they played The Talking Horse and it looked like they were about to finish.  But then they went into Hung Bunny/Roman Bird Dog and that was amazing!  Buzz also mentioned that it was sad to see Isis go during the Anaconda intro.  This was probably the best I've ever seen them play and I loved hearing the new material live.

After the Melvins finished I felt really indifferent about seeing Isis.  I really like them and even wanted to see a show of them headlining last year but couldn't make it.  It's just that after The Melvins played I had already felt like I had seen the show.  After Isis came on I finally remembered that I do actually like them.  They were much heavier live and surprisingly energetic.  I'm not the biggest fan so I couldn't tell you the setlist but I do remember them playing In Fiction and the encore was the first song from Oceanic.  Their setlist was about as long as The Melvins but I think they played a little bit longer.  Of course if you already hate Isis I doubt their show will change your mind.  In the end I actually didn't mind having The Melvins play a slightly shorter set so that I could see another band I really like for the first, and probably last, time.

Dale and Coady played the Electroretard drum intro while Buzz and Jared appeared to be tuning.  I think it was about two thirds intro the show.  I'm really looking forward to the recording!

I'm still pretty worn out from the show so my writing is a bit off.  I meant the Lovely Butterfly intro from Electroretard, not Honky, and it was the same thing they did at bonnaroo.

Oh I also brought a friend who just started to get into them and he was blown away as well.  He wasn't familiar with Isis but he really likes Pelican so he enjoyed Isis as well.

Anyone snag an additional poster for this show they wouldn't mind selling me?
