did you make it to Brown Sugar?  i had some awesome duck curry.  Dale and Coady were a few tables over from us, eating w/ a few other people (one who may have been his mother?).

the_consumer

well that was amazing.

sane set as Athens show, although Lovely Butterfly was jammed on somewhere in there towards the end.

box sets are all sold out !!!

picking up A Senile Animal 4LP for $20 was a nice touch though!

left before Isis played. 2 hour drive home. work at 9am. then back out to Boston.

filmed and audio recorded but I dilly-dallied too long and got shitty shaky angles for most of the night.

i have seen this band so many times and it is impossible to tell if one show is better than another. all i know is that every year they seem to get tighter and tighter; how unladylike. the drumming is so phenomenal. buzzo constantly has that focused intensity. the BSM tracks came out really well. AMAZON has this new out of tune (or something) intro that makes it build up wonderfully.

and hung bunny/roman dog bird? totally different than the album version, totally different than the 2001 versions, but it really took on a new life.

blah blah blah none of these adjective-laden sentences really do any justice to describing this band.

how about this: i'm exhausted and my ears are rining and i am 110% stoked to be doing it all over again tomorrow night- hopefully with an even longer set!

Yes, thank you. Fantastic meal. I passed Dale going to the restaurant he must have been leaving I said hi, but felt a little silly, my arms were full of Melvins Merch..  We got stuck in traffic on the way to Boston. Lost an hour. Otherwise I would have been there the same time as you guys. Did u get any good Pics?

cool, glad to hear you liked it.

i think i got some good shots; shooting @ the Paradise can be tough since there's no photo pit, and for sold out shows it's even harder...i'm not the kind of guy to push my way through the crowd.  that said, i got there early enough to stake a good position, one person back from the stage, on Buzzo's side, and should have plenty of good shots of him.  got some good shots of Coady, too.  as for the rest of it, it was nearly impossible to get anything of Dale, given the stage setup.  i did move around the room for the last song or so to get different angles...i'll take a look at the shots tonight.  the lighting was brutal for the first half of the set, then it got brighter which made my life easier. when i got my pass the woman told me no flash, and my experience is that the melvins don't care but i didn't use any.

i'll be there tonight, thanks to a kind fellow on this very board who put his tickets up on ebay.  totally fucking stoked!!

and i'm bringing my girlfriend, who's heard the melvins but doesn't know almost anything about them.....   also, i'm glad isis is headlining, that means i don't have to sit through their boring fucking drivel.

mosled

I know this is a long shot, but does anyone have an extra ticket for Monday night?

Shoot me an email, mosled@gmail.com      can meet you anywhere.

Did you get that interview? Or no?

Melvy

For those wondering, Melvins go on @ 9:30 and play about 80 minutes.

tinnitus photo

yep. the interview was fun. i have a lot of work ahead of me (photos, transcription, writing).

Melvy

I really wish that middle pole wasn't there, such a fucking inconvenience.

tinnitus photo

the metal pole does indeed suck, but it's a load-bearing element of the room and cannot be removed.  they are shutting down the club from July to Sept and remodeling, and i tihnk the stage will be moved a few feet towards the Comm Ave direction so that at least the pole won't be in the middle. still, it will be there. along w/ the other two.

the_consumer

tonight was better than last night.

far smaller crowd that sunday night. picked up Roko's Adventures MELVINS issue for a measly $5 and it is AMAZING! A 100-page Melvins book?! Gorgeous!

The band was great tonight! Buzz had some fun trashing Isis and the Melvins jammed on WE WILL ROCK YOU during the Anaconda intro.

Hung Bunny / Roman Dog Bird was intense and beautiful.

True talented professionals.

Melvy

Did the crowd actually move tonight?

Or was it just a bunch of semi-interested faces drinking beer again.

d3vil0ck

crowd was kinda meh for the melvins, like last night. i was right up front and going crazy though. they sounded awesome, buzz was funny tonight. dale was just pounding the shit out of the kit man, and damn amazon just sounded so, so great again.  so great live. i got to meet buzz later quick too, cool dude.

isis was amazing, i know everyone here hates them but it was the last show in their home town and everyone there including myself lost their shit during the encore. all in all, this will go down as one of the best shows i've seen.

andy the angry bald man

i've seen the melvins 11 times now, and while i don't know if i'd say this was the best, it was pretty damn close.  opening and closing with "lysol" tracks was fucking brilliant-- i'd never seen any of those songs live before.  i was glad to hear AMAZON and anaconda too...  and a civilized worm/black stooges was what i've been waiting to hear since (A)SA came out.  the band was dead on accurate, buzz was hilarious; it was probably the most i've ever heard him talk at a show.  i'm still pissed that isis headlined, but only because the melvins had to cut their set...   though i really liked how they played pieces of songs to make up for it.

left before isis.  last show ever, hometown, i understand..  i would have stayed if they played only the early stuff.  from what i hear, this isn't the case.  glad i left.

spent too much at the merch booth: got the "going-to-get-me-a-lot-of-questions-because-it-looks-sort-of-nazi-ish" eagle shirt as well as the NWB LP (which is very, very warped...  :x), sludge glamorous and the isis split.
