Melvins to play Soundwave 2011 Australia

Melvins only doing a 30 min set in Adelaide? Thank fuck I'm not going.

yeah, thats ridiculous... but i would probably pay 160 to see the king in action..especailly since it doesnt seem like they get to australlia that often

The last time I saw them was about 7 years ago and they were good but the short set and rubbish bill is just too much. The only other band I really care to see is Primus (would love it if those two were doing a show together in Adelaide) and I think their set starts as soon as the Melvins set finishes. So all up a 30 min set from the Melvins and about 40 mins worth of Primus for around $160 for the ticket, taxi fares too and from (don't have a car) about $20 total and beers are around $8 a pop so factor in two beers and all up around $200. Just too much money.

I'll try and win a ticket in the local street press magazines if so then the night would only cost me around $40.

Don't buy beer. In the US our liquor stores sell shot samples for about a buck each. I always buy a few of those and drink them before going into the place or sneak them in.

According to this interview, http://www.theaureview.com/interviews/buzz-osborne-melvins-usa, their set will be 40-45min. Slayer, High on Fire, Kylesa, and a few others are playing too. I'd say it's worth the money since they don't go there often.

hmmm just read that Saxon are not going to play at Soundwave or their sidewave w/The Sword

I know this totally will not happen but I would LOVE Melvins to be the headline at The Sword sidewave...

Yeah, Saxon got screwed on their playing time. How many people that actually want to see them would turn up that early?

that sucks about Saxon, they are a great live band. I saw them in a double bill with Motorhead
and they actually stole the show. They closed with a 15 min. version of Denim and Leather that
saw every member take an extended solo. It was sick.

Indeed a disappointing venue but indeed better than nothing!
