I ran across this video of Manky. Buzz is totally going nuts in the one. I have never seen him like that before. He is usually very chilled out, sticks to headbanging and the like. He is bouncing all over the place on this one. He probably told himself, "damn, i can't have Kevin Rutmanis and his strong presence upstage me all the time, gotta go all out tonight."

Melvins - Manky, It's Shoved live 04.26.00

Another of my most favorite crazy/interesting moments is from the Salad of a Thousand delights video. Dale standing on top of the swivel chair, spinning around. He also hangs from the rafters in another part of Boris on the bonus footage.

Melvins - Salad Of A Thousand Delights Live (Part 8)

anyone have any other cool concert videos/moments??

When I saw them in 2002 Buzz would go bat shit every so often.  He'd twist around while playing bits and it seemed like he would fall over, but he apparently has good balance.  Very high energy.  It was all the more dramatic as it was all about 4 feet in front of me and I guess no one wants a les paul in the eye, yet it was too awesome to look away.

anaconda

i love the toilet brush on Rut's mic in that Manky clip. lol

Mount Ambulance

There is a vid (actually a couple different versions) of them in 93 in SF, if I remember correctly ... where Buzz does this crazy feedback intro to Sacrifice ... culminating in him slamming his git down from above his head into the drum riser ... I think he also throws a mike stand at some point ... getting into it? I donno seems he might have just been pissed at the shitty bass player they had who keeps fucking up.

One of the first times I'd ever heard a Melvin speak between songs wasn't until December 2006 in Oxford, when Dale asked the audience how many of us were actually studying at Oxford University. No one put their hands up.

all i can say is that i pine for the day melvins fans learn how to properly bootleg a concert and record some halfway decent audio and video.  good quality live melvins recordings are few and far between.

Go for it.

Buzz is like a cross between Scott Ian and Angus Young in that Manky footage.  I sure would like to see Manky again.

I pine for the day The Melvins learn how to regularly record concerts and produce some decent video and audio themselves. Good quality official live Melvins videos are few and far between.

If anyone has heard the Cowboy 7", that has some pretty funny stage banter. I've been to a lot of Melvins shows and am not sure if I have ever heard Buzz speak. There is some good stuff on "Alive at the Fucker Club" and the Tora Tora Tora boxed set.

in regards to the manky vid:

how does kev get that sound out of his strumming style?  he looks like me (can't play guitar a LICK!) flailing away on my buddy's junky acoustic. yet he sounds like:

CHUGA CHUGA CHUGA  CHUG CHUG CHUG CHUUUUUG!    CHUGA CHUGA CHUGA CHUG CHUG CHUG CHUUUUUG!

when I do it it sounds like:

*can't find the right keys to type a proper mock GOD AWFUL sound*

The Plainfield side of that single is hilarious. In fact all Plainfield-related things are hilarious. The Melvins side gets a bit awkward but I like it that the band agree to a certain portion of the stage being put aside for the stage divers. Did they finally cut the gig short at the end?

Did Duh tour with The Melvins? They've cracked me up attacking the crowd, too, for instance during the live medley on The Unholy Handjob LP.

Agreed but I will defend the hell out of Salad of 1000 Delights.  Get drunk and crank the volume for that one.

That's shocking. I've been under the impression that the only people smart enough to like the melvins are Rhodes scholars.
