John Schuller

I personally like each and every bass player the Melvins have had. I have seen all of them live with the Melvins with the exception of Joe Preston (not sure how I missed that).

It really doesn't matter though what WE all think. It really only matters what Buzz and Dale think and who they want to work with.

Sorry but I just don't get the animosity toward Lukin, after all he was the original bass player and recorded two fine/excellent albums (6 Sons Ep and GPT).

Typed like someone thinking for himself. If Buzz had spoken well of Matt over the years there would be a bunch of fans lining up to be the first to agree with him.

Uncle Fester

we're melvins geeks. we all have our stubborn opinions and favorite line ups.
Mints, buzz has made negative remarks about every "official" bass player for the melvins save j-rod. not yet at least.
matt lukin just sucks
you can't polish poo, mints.

Uncle Fester just can't accept that Mints is right.

Bring back Lukin!
I am a raper guy, obviously.

ManWithNoName

Uncle Fester is right. PROVE HIM WRONG.

Idlehanz

I don't think Matt sucks, but I don't ever see this happening.

I don't think Matt sucks,

Thats right! You KNOW he sucks.
:)

How? What is it that you're going after? I'm not denying you your opinion on his playing - it's just that you haven't mentioned it. You've just said that he sucks. Do you honestly listen to 26 Songs or Gluey Porch Treamtments and think, "the bass player sucks"? If so, why?

Lets be serious. What could he add to the modern era of the band? He'd be drunk and sloppy.
Plus, they don't play very many of the songs he was on back in the day, they've moved on.
And he couldn't even hold up his end in Mudhoney so he quit. How relevant does that make him?
Not very. There's a reason why he's a labourer

I really doesn't matter what you think.
Any other epiphanies?

fyi-
Matt is a real sweet guy.
He even asked me "how is Buzz doing?"

Greasy Statement

he played that opening riff to "eye flys", and played it well, so he's a-ok in my book.
they did stuff with dillard, so i suppose anything's possible musically, but then again buzz never fell out with dillard.

John Schuller

I have heard that he is a really nice guy. It would be nice to see him play bass in Melvins 1983. His playing is superb in my opinion on GPT, 6/8/10/26 Songs and the tunes on Deep Six.

The Melvins are always evolving, I love that. I was lucky enough to see the Matt / Buzz / Dale lineup live once. It changed my life.

He was great in Mudhoney as well.

I have heard through a friend that bought his bass cabinet from him the "Matt is just done with playing music".

Much respect to Matt, Buzz, Dale, Jared, Coady, Mike, Lori, Mark, Kevin and Joe. They all have filled my ears with great music. Life could be a lot worse.

Mints

Personally, I couldn't care less about Matt playing with the Melvins again. If I had a say in the bass player game I'd bring back Mark and Kevin for a week-long extravaganza. What I don't get is people whining about him without saying a single thing about his playing/the albums he was on. All I hear are people paraphrasing Buzz. Sycophants stink worse than dead ravens.

EvilNewWarGod

so why single out Matt Lukin? why not bring back Lori Black/Lorax? I am only kidding, I am happy with whatever bass player is cool and good enough to play in the band
