I recently purchased an additional STAG cd since my old one is thrashed and does not play Skin Horse.
My new STAG has a glossy cd booklet vs. the heavy paper stock older one?

What gives?  :-k

I have two copies of Stag myself.  One is a regular release, and one is a promo copy with the typical "Promotional Use Only" jargon stamped in gold on the front.  Both are on heavy stock, non glossy paper.  I didn't think Stag was ever reissued, but I can't think of any other possibility. Is the UPC # on the back 7567-82878-2?

Is there any chance they just used two different types of stock for the same cd run?

I bought my cd copy of Stag in 2000 ... it's glossy.

Glossy here, same UPC (with an additional 0 at the beginning and 4 at the end of the barcode, CA851 written underneath it).

I have a glossy one as well.

I'm pretty sure I ordered it from Amazon.uk as it wasn't available in North America at the time. Perhaps that would explain it? Not sure.

That's what I have too because back in 2005 Stag was kind of rare.  I got the shitty promo copy for $15!  It seems like it when back to print in the UK and some were imported to the US.  For whatever reason Stag is no longer expensive on amazon.  http://www.amazon.com/Stag-Melvins/dp/B000002J8Y/ref=ntt_mus_ep_dpi_5

Mine is on heavy stock too. Bought it used at a local CD/video/game shop about ten years ago. It's still in great shape. My guess is within the last 5 yrs Atlantic started pressing them again. They do seem to be around again, and not so rare.

Some advice for older CDs that skip on a tune or won't play at all:
Just make a burn of the CD. The CD-R will play fine most of the time. The data transfers fine usually, even with the original disc having problems playing. I bought a pretty rare Mike Keneally CD on Amazon recently for under $10. At least 2 songs skipped even though the disc was clean. So I just burned a copy and all is fine. Didn't feel like returning it for a refund, but I didn't leave the seller feedback either.

Heavy cardstock here. Always dug the catalog number, reflects my birthday (8-28-78). Interesting to me only, so screw you in advance.

Had to do this with my Lysol.  Bought it used with Lysol title on the cover and sticker removed.  But it would have these weird millisecond skip every minute or so thru out the whole album.  The burned copy cleared ot right up.
Is Ian back yet??
