one more melvins album and then buzz and dale retire to leave the melvins name to jared and coady and maybe toshi will join. there's your NEW melvins.

I was talking about this with another friend of mine, Like maybe one day Buzz and Dale have to pass the "melvins" torch to the next generation, that would be cool there was still "melvins" when my grandchildren are running around.

I wonder.

Buzz did comment that when he dies he'd like all the bands music to cease to exist too. So don't get your hopes up.

Melvins - The War on Wisdom (New Track - 2012)

Dumpster D

yeah, I guess, I understand, I already hate my own band.

Illusionator

Having listened to it a few times now. Yeah, it's fine.

The problem-ish I have is that it could easily be on any of the last 3 studio albums (as loads of people have posted), and while I'm OK with the last 3 albums (well Bride is still not great for me, but generally) I would've loved them to try something different, given this is an EP released for free to anyone with a decent broadband connection, surely they could've stretched a bit? Experimented. Who's gonna gripe about a free release?

Oh...

Wow. That just blew my mind. I can't think of a more Melvins thing to do, since they are ALWAYS thinking outside the box. That would just be awesome!

I completely disagree. The Melvins are nothing without Buzz and Dale, but especially Buzz since it is his band. The idea of Jared and Coady carrying on under the "Melvins" is sort of an insult . Once Buzz and Dale have nothing to do with the band, the Melvins should cease to exist.
May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your armpits.

Disagree with what? what the hell..

I didn't say I WANTED the torch pass to actually happen, we'd both just asked the question because the BB guys are like y'know sort of like the sorcerers apprentice....but melvins. I can't think of any other band having that much clout and effect.

just to clear that up.

How about we rename this thread "the war on whining".

Is Ian back yet??

acid policy

i cant wait to see TWOW live. those power chords as a wall of sound will be a different thing than what they sound like on computer speakers. the snare line leading into the middle part, the middle part, the landslide drums beginning the end part, and the drums at the end are all genius.

as for bigmelvins griping, bigmelvins shows are better than a few other lineups i've seen. also, jared has done some of the best melvins vocals in my opinion, dog island for example.

This whole fucking big melvins whining thing is getting old, real fucking fast.

The Melvins are not going to make Lysol or Bullhead ever again, it's not going to fucking happen. Go listen to those records and shut the fuck up. The three Big Melvins album do not sound alike. It's cute that you guys want to stand out from the rest of us and act like you know more about what defines the Melvins than the Melvins do but all you succeed at is coming off as giant pitchdorks.

How about all you fucking whine bags skip on the next melvins shows? put your fucking money where your mouth is.

I'm all for a critical look at their music and it's not a question of loving everything that they do. But all you dipshits whining about the big melvins because Jared kills your boner are just that, dipshits.

Don't forget that every fucking melvins album was released with a chorus of "this sucks.", "it's different", "I don't like it." only to be lauded as amazing records further on down the road.

If the melvins have become so goddamn predictable why don't you fucking negative nancies get together, record a 5 song EP and we'll put it up against The Bulls and The Bees to see how predictable the melvins really are.

/end rant.

Hidden track on the next Big Belvins record, please.

Well put, Manwithnoname.

Melvins are still doing what no one else is doing - but in a different sense than how it was perceived ten or twenty years ago. That's essentially what we want, right? Melvins making something new....

When Buzz and Dale are too old to make those heavy riffs and cymbal crashes that we all know and love (let's hope it never comes to this) I hope they go on and continue their act as an old-man synthrock duel.

LONG LIVE THE MELVINS
