I'm sure they could release regular albums via iTunes and Google Music, Amazon store etc... surely would be better financially as you'd skip out on manufacturing costs and record labels/

Hopefully it's not the case though as I'd pirate the shit out of that since all on-line music stores are US only and I will not deal with iTunes as the greedy bastards are charging double the US prices even though the AUD is stronger than the USD.

everything was a "maybe".  so I wouldn't be betting the farm on anything.   but if I were to guess I would say one more traditional recorded and released to be sold at your local record store album.    from there it's mp3's, etc.

argh, MP3 is anything but a high quality format, the whole idea of selling such a shitty thing instead of a flac/wav file or a CD/vinyl is so mediocre... but what's even more mediocre is the fact that the people does buy it... but hey, in a world ruled by Justin Beiber and wachiturros, what more can you expect? they can hardly tell the difference between a fucking 128kbps MP3 and a high quality CD.

i just don't want to have to go on a wild goose chase to try and trace down new albums from the Melvins, but if they still take the time and money to record "official" studio albums, i'm guessing it won't solely be just super-limited quantity, $200 releases. that's all.

Well, unless they can tour all around the globe that's the mentality that must be changed. There's internet now and only because of that people from other countries want to get the same stuff too. It's time to start thinking worldwide and not just locally, the rules of the game are no longer the same... or like some people use to say: welcome to the 21st century.
