what's so significant about the number of the pressing besides a Lower number, meaning theres a chance for a slightly better press off the record lathe?

Does it matter anyway, most vinyl pressing in the states is cheap anyway.  :?

It doesn't REALLY matter, but some people care about (and might get a few more $$$) if it's a lower number (and/or something goofy like #13 or #69).  I collect screenprinted posters and it's the same way.  Some people also have a favorite or lucky number and will pay a bit of a premium for it.

That's not always the case.  It depends on the artist/numberer.  #1 isn't always the first one printed.
