EGO the Living Planet

New comic for Avatar Press by David Lapham and Rafael Ortiz.

At one point the title character gets good and pissed 'cause some mobsters destroy his "almost autographed" copy of Prick ("A lot of people don't like it, but I say sometimes y'need a little Prick. It Takes you one a journey--"). At another he tells a sexy young lady "All I need is a place to lay my head, A little MELVINS, and I'll piss away more happiness in a week than you're likely to get in 40 years." and "Best stick with the MELVINS. Tunes don't change, Baby. People Do." In another part he tells a friend "I goota go now and I only made it half way through Eye Flys."

Anyway, it's a pretty cool comic even before the MELVINS stuff. Just thought you guys would wanna hear about it.

I picked it up in a shop. It's published by Avatar Press, who also publish (among other things) Garth Ennis' awesome zombie apocalypse series Crossed.

I've never really like Lapham but have only read his mainstream stuff. How's Stray Bullets?

picked it up at Big Brain yesterday, pretty good read! Stray Bullets is indeed very good and Dan the Unharmable has potential. Bonus was that after my buddy and I were done at Big Brain we walked down the street to Grumpy's for a couple beers then saw Avengers in 3D. Below is one of the pages that mentions the Melvins.
