precisely why I don't like politics and music together that much.    Certain people always think that everyone thinks the same way they do and feel free to start bashing.

the internet and message boards are all about varying OPINIONS, i dont see why it would bother anyone so much.  Its not like he came on here and attacked the Melvins...he made it obvious that he is in fact a fan of the band this website is devoted to.  Half of you guys have probably not even seen or heard Trevor Dunn's new band yet, so why dont you at least wait till the show until you attempt to shoot other peoples opinions down.  Although i am a fan of a lot of DK stuff, i personally dont have much tolerance for a lot of politics in music either.  But lyrics have always been secondary to the overall vibe the music creates for me, so im able to look past that with Jello Biafra and the Dead Kennedys.  Its just a case of them being that damn good and Jello seems to have a pretty good sense of humour unlike a lot of these newer bands, i.e. Rage Against the Machine, that i cant stomach one bit.

oh yeah, i guess i just broke my pact to not enter the show reviews section until after i see them on my leg of the tour.  Oh well, I couldnt help it, im getting anxious....i dont get to see them till the end of the month.  Not too far off i guess.

Incoherent noise does not equal jazz.

They are to jazz what Chef boy r Dee is to italian food.

Man I wish I had thought of these statements! Too funny.

Just a song that was on an album that probably came out before you were born guy. Actually Buzz, Dale , Kevin and Jello are probably old enough to be your dad. Jello could even be your grandad!

I just think its kinda fucked up that the newest people here have posted negative posts as the first thing they have done here...and i think thats... gay.

I think any honest input here is good input...  a variety of opinions can strengthen this board likewise any other message board.  some people are very touchy on the subjects of the melvins and music in general.   We can all argue about terminology as well...  like it's a bold statement to really come out and say TDC is really jazz, and if I were to side with that notion I sure wouldn't compare them to.. let's say ornette coleman or even a john zorn project.  I personally like their sound and many may not, but I wouldn't knock anyone for trying to make something happen.....  I hope eveyone (including octobon) in this thread stick around for more musical discussion in the future...

I'm going to the Sept 13th Pittsburgh show, I'll post my thoughts afterward as soon as I can.

Anyhow, I'm sorry to hear that so many of you can't stomach Trevor Dunn Trio . . . I've never actually seen them live, but I've heard a lot of boots.  I think they're fantastic.  Most people just won't get it, but I'm used to that.

That makes you the third or fourth person to be going on this board.

I'm going too.

I think it's more accurate to describe T.D.T.C. as a jazz/rock group rather than just straight up jazz as there was moderate use of feedback and various other techniques more at home with rock within their set. It was basically fusion and I think they were good for what they were doing.
One thing I was finding myself wish for when hearing them, was wishing Mr. Bungle to re-form because we basically have the splintered shards of this great band within T.D.T.C.'s rock/jazz, Secret Chiefs 3's arabic/surf/electronic and Mike Patton's versatile vocal acrobatics in various side bands. I wish they would settle their differences.   Who knows, maybe some inventive mixer will take these groups and create a cool mash-up for those who are yearning for a Bungle reunion.

Are the guys in Bungle mad at each other?

I don't really know the details, but I know they disbanded for some reason. I am just making an assumption that there is something up.
