Saw the Sacramento show at Ace of Spades tonight. It's the second time they've played at this particular venue under the Ace of Spades name. They have been hosting shows for quite show time but the venue has been under many different names/owners. Before it was called 'Ace of Spades' it used to be a music venue/crappy nightclub. The new owners went away with the nightclub portion so now it's pretty much just a music venue. On to the show...

The set was similar if not the same as it's been but I can never remember full setlists so my apologies. Honky was an awesome opener as expected with Dale on drums. Dale did his hula-hoop thing during the Melvins set. I've seen the Melvins quite a few times and they never disappoint (but we all know that). The crowd was actually really cool....at least where I was (Sacramento crowds can be pretty hit or miss). The place was not as full as I wanted it to be but that's just how it is when it comes to good music coming to Sacramento these days. Since it's getting to the end of the tour, the merch was a little light but they still had some awesome stuff. Apparently SD9 is all sold out unless some go up online. They did have both the Clown singles as well as the Gaylord 7". There was a ton of paper goods/prints/Walsby art etc etc. There was a large box of old gig posters priced a $5 each. The only screen print CD they had was 'Everybody Loves Sausages'. There was a few shirts but unfortunately, nothing in my size and no Clown shirts. On a plus side, I got out of the merch spot a lot cheaper than usual as I already have the records that were available. Walsby was super nice as he always is. He was even really nice to the ones that can ask of a lot/be more on the annoying side. Anyone else here attend?

Here's a quick photo of the stuff I grabbed in case anyone wants to see.

Actually no. Melvins used to play the Boardwalk pretty regularly. Ace of Spades is in Downtown Sacramento (thankfully just a few short blocks from my apartment). I never really liked the Boardwalk. If I remember right, the guy that booked shows at The Boardwalk, now works at Ace of Spades so that's probably why Melvins are playing there now.
