Great set. I really enjoy the era and vibe.
I pray someday I can see MELVINS do OZMA live as a 3 piece. [-o<

I was @ that show. About 30 seconds into the clip, Buzz mentions Jim Thompson. That's Jimmy T of tastelikedirt fame.

After the show Ron, Amy, Jim (maybe Evan & Eric) & myself joined the boys back stage, as Jim interviewed the band for his tastelikechicken zine.(pre dirt)

I remember Joe eating an apple & Buzz wasn't positive about Helmet's oven cover.

A few originals from the dirt dark room from that date..

amazing show and great quality for the era. just watched the whole thing.

such a great find.

hey that's awesome! this is exactly the way we had intended to cut it together when we shot it. And now 22 years later some kind soul has finished the job. Love it.

is there any more to the story that you care to share? was this just shot and shelved without doing anything with it?

In a nutshell, yeah. I've talked about this show quite a bit on another thread, but yeah, my pal Scott and I shot it, he was in the balcony, I was sitting on the stage next to Buzz shooting the low angle, and we had someone recording the audio on the soundboard. We had intended on cutting them together with the audio just like this, but being the lazy fuckers we were at the time it just never came together. The footage of the whole show from the two different angles has been out there on the web for a while, and the audio surfaced years ago, but no one ever put all the pieces together until now.

Big thanks to whoever took the time to do it, it worked out incredibly well. Makes me proud, and takes me right back to that show and that time in the band's arc. Joe was really hitting his stride and they were an absolutely crushing force live, the best they had ever been to that point.

I shot this show too, right around that same time:

01. Roman Dog Bird/Hung Bunny - Melvins - Kennel Club, San Francisco, CA - 4.24.92

You're welcome. Thanks for posting the clip, as it brought back some good memories & I had totally forgotten the show was dedicated to Jim. I have yet to watch more than a minute of it, as I haven't had the time.

I attended the Kennel Club show as well.

Did you pick up the poster? My first Melvins poster & fave. (I only purchase posters from shows that I attend)

Hey yeah, I used to have that poster! It graced the wall of my places on Haight St. and Castro St. around that time and then it got all fucked up at one point in a move and went the way of all good things. sadness abounds. I had a bunch of the Kozik posters from that period, still have a few down in the merch vault (my basement). Love your photos, those are great.

The Kennel Club was an awesome spot, I saw so many killer shows there. The GAMH is still probably my favorite venue in SF (I know it's Buzz's too), but I have too many amazing memories to count from the Kennel Club. David Yow wiped his scrotum on my forehead in that club once. Tight & Shiny. Ah, sweet youth, sweet memories.

We're on the same page, as the GAMH is my fave SF venue too. My first SF Melvins show was @ the Nightbreak.(Lorax) The I Beam & Slimms also were good to me regarding stellar shows during that time in THE City. That sucks that the Kozik didn't survive through the moves. The credit for the photos, once again goes back to Jim. Over the years they've been given as gifts.
