what Model amps do you both use, that will determine wether or not your getting the most out of your Technics TTs..its not as straight forward as you would first think. Those Technics will boast excellent performance but when you are varying Amplification-speaker configuration, you will acheive possibly un-wanted sound colour and tonal Qualities depending how you have selected your speakers positions and Amp Model Im sure you both have the same TT but Two COMPLETELY different sounds coming out of them through your speakers and amp. First I recommend adjusting speaker positioning... Trying your speakers FULL-SPHERE (Centre of the Room) and determine the Anomalies in your Listening enviroment...Then Try HALF-SPERE (Directly parallel against one Wall in a four sided room, this will give you a Level Increase of +6 Db) If you go Quarter Sphere (facing out from two sides of your walls in a four sided Room you will get an Additional +6 Db on top of Half Sphere Positioning) and you can play around, The position of Eighth Sphere is Up in the top corners of your Room walls aiming Centre of the room, you will truly hear all kinds of differences trying it out)
Depending on your power, and Speaker Ratings, It might only be a subtle difference in the end but the good- and _GREAT is always in those little Details, Also Inform me of the speaker impedance your Amps are Rated for and what specifications are your Drivers. Go further by describing the Ambience and size of your listening chamber if possible.
(If you are interested in any suggestions of course)
As for how your Azimuth and Skew and skate and balance are all setup is another story, how you care for your LPs another, and so on...And Clean styli, and un-worn Styli etc etc.
knowing what Type of Stylus you have, Optical Or Eliptical, also not all LPs are cut the same, infact most of the info Regarding the different manufacturing tools used in the Cutting is impossible, Theres all kinds of Lathes out there spanning over Too many generations. Hard to know what you get and how to get the most out of it at the end of the day...
I notice a Lot of new cut-180 Gram Vinyls that are Re-issues always have dead-air that sounds like someone blowing into a mic or something no idea where that anomaly comes from, the originals I have dont have a weirded out sound floor on them at all.
Cant stress this stuff enough.
thats a nice Cartridge Oldernie!!!
