That's a great interview.

Mark Prindle interviewed Shannon, I think it was a Heroine Shieks interview, and the Cows break up is discussed. Interesting to hear Buzz's perspective on the Cows break-up as well as the rest of the bands in his list.

Has some of Buzz` victims ever commented back? Buzz hits the nail pretty well in the article that regards this thread.

Nah, hes right as Rain about everything, as always.

PorcoRosso

that was a pretty good read.
I saw Isis at their last or second to last show, I don't remember which .
They were pretty damn good , it is too bad they folded...

I've always wondered that.  The thing about this article, though.. is that he's not necessarily putting anyone down out of meanness, rather, he's making a couple of really good points.

He even went out of his way to say the guys in Metallica were nice guys and not meant to disparage them personally.

For added hilarity, check out some of the comments.
QuoteHusker Du never did anything good after Zen Arcade? The Replacements peaked with Stink? Nick Cave's entire solo career isn't as good as The Birthday Party? This is just contrarian hipster bullshit. You have bad opinions, Buzz Osborne, and you should feel bad.
QuoteI gave up on the Melvins 20 years ago, when I spent money to see them play. The first song was a 12 minute guitar wank peppered with the occasional drum strike. When the second song was just a variation on the same theme, I walked out. Friends of mine, who are big Melvins fans, have told me the band did this when they felt the crowd was full of posers.
I'd actually liked a number of the Melvins songs that I had heard before
attending their show, but I can't support a band that feels it's OK to piss on people who paid to see and support them.
I find it humorous that Buzz talks down bands that play arena for being greedy and disconnected with their audience, when that is how I have viewed the Melvins since my one time seeing them.

All of these guys probably think Lorde had the best album of 2013

Blew it?

Pretty on target ... though some of those just weren't that great to begin with ...

Never dug on Isis, shit just bores me ... older, newer ... whatever, boring.

Replacements? Never got the fanfare there. Sounds like some "gritty" stuff the cast of Friends would dig.

Husker Du ... good ... but not great ... but yeah, Zen's the cut off for sure.

Birthday Party/Nick Cave ... there is some solo Cave I think stands shoulders w/ the Birthday Party (say up to Tender Prey) but man, his solo moves have been pretty horrible the last 20yrs. or so ...
It was a big night out on the town for the Id and the Reptile Brain ...

I like how people are still talking about sets they played opening for bands in the 90's, and the idea that if they played "real" songs or something it would win over fans of, say, White Zombie or Nine Inch Nails. I also like how they still cause some people to respond with utter hatred towards them and saying the generic "they suck!" I mean, there's bands out there I don't like at all, but I don't really feel the urge to find articles or interviews with them and comment on their suckiness, which makes me wonder about the people that do.

Oh and I agree with Buzz on pretty much everything except I was never really into the Replacements, but that's mainly because I never really gave them a listen, and I could never afford to see the Stones live to judge whether or not they did indeed blow it.
Hail, not fail.
PS:  fuck him.

I enjoyed reading that list & got a few good laughs out of it too.

But as far as post-rock goes? Mogwai, MONO, Slint and The Rachel's are all I'm willing to enjoy.

I have pretty much the same opinion as you do about this stuff, I never got into Birthday Party. Just awful.
