I heard, and might not get this totally right, but Paul had asked Buzz what the band was going to be called and Buzz told him a Melvins, and Paul got excited he could tell his friends he is/was in the Melvins.

It would be special if Paul would tour with them, but not likely to happen, he is a busy man.

If you do stuff you like, it`s no work in the litterary meaning of the word. Although I believe that Buzz & other musicians can feel that it can become a bit repetetive, they only have to do this repetiveness for 11/2 hours per gig. Of course there is a bit routine being on the road aswell, but some like that and thankfully Buzz and Dale are built robust so they can handle it. And it`s not like they are on tour 12 months in a row, 2 months out of 12 is something any musician should handle. The fact that Buzz tours month after month like he does now, is anyhow a proof that he likes this more than most musicians. The fact that they stay off drugs is also a key factor I guess.

That`s my fanboy 2 cents thoughts on that matter. Hail Melvins!

I remember in an interview, Jim Heath ( the Reverend Horton Heat) was asked about the difference between having Gibby Haynes and Paul Leary produce their albums. The interviewer had assumed that Gibby was the crazier one (I think most people would assume that). He said that Gibby is crazy, but Paul is insane. He said you couldn't believe how twisted Paul was. That's all I remember.

I totally believe it. He wrote some of the most fucked BS stuff, plus anybody that plays the guitar like he does has to be insane. In an insanely good way.

Buzz said his weed intake was insane while they were recording that Buzz would have died if he ever smoked that much, but there is Paul nonchalantly working away.  Pinkus and I just laughed.

I always figured weed was a great incentive to get to work...at least for poor people without the work (money) there is no weed.
