On a side note i wish this was under the Melvins banner as generally im not a fan of short lived side projects. Crystal Fairy??? What a terrible band name. Odd that 'Hold It In' or 'Three Men And A Baby' were also collaborations but still credited as "Melvins" whereas this is considered separate from that. I love Teri but personally i'd have it as just Buzz, Dale and Omar.

I think it will be interesting to see if now Buzz has worked with Omar, if a load of people from here all of a sudden are going to be big Omar fans. Which kind of happened with Le Butcherettes. Almost no one here cared about the band until they got the Melvins seal of approval.

I respect Omar as a guitarist and producer. I just don't care much for his actual music. I would bet that this project will be great.

I checked out a few Mars Volta albums around a decade ago. They were OK, but IMO way overrated. I saw Antemasque 2 yrs ago, with Le Butcherettes opening. Antemasque was much more listenable than MV, but still didn't really stand out to me. It's mainly the vocals that lose me.

I dare say the reasons this collab isn't under the Melvins name are a) control, if it's under the Melvins name Buzz & Dale dictate terms not sure a guy like Omar would go for that and b) a lot larger potential exposure of Crystal Fairy taking off then it otherwise would under the Melvins name.

They said they've been working on it a while so hopefully for all of them the background checks have been done lol I know next to nothing about Teri but those two main At The Drive In/The Mars Volta guys seem like huge flakes. I could see Buzz giving an opinion on something Omar doesn't like and he immediately quitting refusing to ever speak to Buzz again or something like that.
