Question about Eggnog
« on: June 12, 2021, 03:08:53 PM »
I've looked throughout the discography and albums discussion pages, and still can't find an answer, so I thought I'd ask:

Does anyone knows which month and year Eggnog was recorded, and which month and year it was released?

Lorax plays bass on it, so it must have been recorded in early 1991, before Joe replaced her, but what I'm more curious about is the artwork and title, which seem to suggest a Christmas and holiday season connection, generally considered to run from November to early January.

Was it recorded in early 1991 and released in late 1991?

Why do some Eggnog 10"s come with a black & white insert and some with a colour one?

a quote from buzz in a magazine

The Flipside interview was allegedly made in May 1991. Buzz says Eggnog is already recorded but not released yet. Later he says it will be released in August.

Pieced together in my head:
Recorded in immediate response to claims of selling out with Bullhead by European fans. Bullhead came out very late January/ early Feb. 91. Recorded in March/April right before Joe joined. It waa supposed to come out late Spring/early Summer, which was part of the joke with the artwork. Manufacturing delay caused it to be released closer to the Winter holidays, which was not the intention.
Also melvins is gay cuz some of their songs are just noise, i tell you this so you all don't buy albums and find out only one two songs is good on them.
