like clockwork. only question is.... is this an album that's actually just a cool concept EP like Helms Alee collab or the Tribute To Throbbing Gristle? or is it a proper album like Working With God or Bad Mood Rising?

I would say more like the latter. Roy Mayorga drums on some songs apparently.

Buzz seems a bit off in the interview. He sounds totally bored or perhaps tired or unengaged. I don't think i've ever heard him so much that way before. Usually he over answers questions and talks a lot yet here he seems quite within himself.

Dumpster D

Probably the Cobain questions finally got to him.

Anyway curious to ask Buzz what was the inspiration behind the album title 'working with god' Like, where did that come from?

I can't remember any of the interviewers in the last few years asking him any kind of thoughtful, profound or intelligent questions.

He's a good sport, yet thoroughly bored by repetitive questions past a certain point, safe to say...they change their setlist often enough so they don't get bored playing.

I can sort of answer that one! I remember Buzz said in an interview a few years ago that he REALLY wanted to put out a Melvins album with the title '_____ With God" that he thought that would be a good one - Melvins and God. He said he tried to think of what the first word could be and considered "Walking" and apparently someone suggested "Working" and that made perfect sense to him. So i guess it's not a super deep meaning, but it conjures up a lot of thoughts which Buzz liked.

Bigval

I thought the album was called 'Working with God' as a payout of the religious nutters that were saying Covid had been sent by God as punishment for our supposed sins and the tornados on the cover played into that as the religious nutters often say this when a natural disaster happens, they did the same with the big bushfires here in Australia a few years ago.

I kind of love that Buzz's video interviews from home all have that boomer-who-never-used-zoom-before unflattering angle and framing. It's amazing he can be so obsessed with photography and cinematography and not give two shits where his own face ends up.

Yes. i've noticed that before too. I've always found it quite admirable of Buzz that he never seems to be hung up about his appearance or looking "good". I'm also equally fascinated with all these interviews by the decor in each room too. Sometimes very sparse (like this one) or totally rammed with visual stimuli. I wish him and Mackie did a full house tour or something. It would be ENTHRALLING. The Osborne home on MTV Cribs! Does that show still exist?

Hahaha! Great observation! - And no one is going to have the guts to tell him to adjust his camera!

I liked that the interviewer actually got into some song writing and lyric writing questions. I would love some really in-depth interviews with Buzz, like a series - 1) Guitar, the creative process and songwriting and lyric writing process (approaches, methods, examples) 2) The album creation process (recording, mixing, artwork, sequencing, working with Ipecac, working with AmRep 3) The tour process (planning, routing, day-to-day, touring partners, selling merch, setlist creation, soundcheck, tour gear) - I want a masterclass.

Great idea John!!! On one level it's just a band but you are right, there is SO much to it that would be so compelling to witness or hear more insight into the hows and whys. Maybe one day.
