I haven't spent much time with Throbbing record yet but I'd say Love and Prick are tied for #1 with me. Chicken Switch is bottom. There's also an album's worth of non-songs on Singles 1-12 which I'd probably rate below all of those. I could hear Teresa scream or Dale fast forward a thousand times, but those A&R mixes are unlistenable in the worst way. Also nothing against Brutal Truth but it's hard to enjoy what's just an obvious cop-out. I'll update this post with an actual ranking some day.

In theory you could add Pigs of the Roman Empire, Electroretard and Honky in this ranking as they're teetering on the brink of being more "difficult"  or "abstract" listens.

1. Colossus of Destiny (Buzz's description of it having a metre and flow is accurate plus the build up leads to a great payoff.)
2. Throbbing Jazz (Just about all of the songs are good even if it doesn't "flow" consistently all the time. Digging this one more on each listen.)
3. Prick (It's dumb but it's also the legacy Kurt Kobain deserves.)
4. Love (Couple cool tracks but most of it is directionless bullshit. Love & Death as a whole is a bottom tier Melvins album for me)
5. Chicken Switch (On paper a cool idea but I only like a few of the remixes at best.)

Yes, I remember when this came out, a really good idea, but... Not even a real Melvins release, it's basically a tribute-remix album.

I think i've only ever listened to Chicken Switch twice! I wasn't much for it and like yourself, i've never viewed it as a proper Melvins record. I've never been much of a fan of remixes of any song or band. I'll have to give it another listen though.

My favorite remix album happens to be my favorite album from Scorn which is Ellipsis.  A bunch of other artists dissecting and deconstructing songs from Scorn's third album and one song from their second album.  Some you can easily tell which song it is and some have almost no resemblance to the original.

I haven't heard Chicken Switch since it came out so I need a nice lazy rainy day to revisit.

I'd say it's less in the spectrum of canonical remix albums than Further Down the Spiral. But it's still more a Melvins album than almost any other rock band's remix album.

(Now if they'd prefer to do a dub mix of one of their records, front to back, I'd be into that!)
