The fact that you seem to like Victory Of The Pyramids the most worries me a little. I was hoping the rest of the album would be better than that track.

Found this from Buzz. Check out the last line, he wants to do a 4th Melvins 1983 album!

"Mike Dillard is the original drummer for the Melvins, we've been friends since high school. we met in Montesano, a small town on the coast of Sashington state. we had moved there from an even smaller town. I hated everything about it. i hated the people, hated the teachers, hated the cops, hated the weather, hated how isolated it was. It was like living on the dark side of the moon. I knew no one and had no friends at all which was fine by me If I had a chance to do it over i'd quit high school as soon as i could. high school was a complete waste of time.  My own classmates proved themselves the enemy so finding someone I could relate to was just great. Mike was immediately impressed with all the weird music i was into. Up to that point I hadn't met anyone with any an interest in any of my musical discoveries. It was an amazing time in the history of music and literally no one was interested. We were surrounded by mediocrity, stupidity, prejudice, and dangerous rednecks. We learned to play music together. we grew up together and have remained friends all these years. Thunderball is the third Melvins 1983 record we have made together. I wanted this one to be bombastic. I think it is. I'm already planning a fourth one that will be even more uncompromising. A real shit show."

That review in French was quite the unwieldy one. I didn't appreciate it's ability to induce a headache until it was too late. I can pass this information on to anyone reading now. That review was among other tings too long and gave me a headache.

Nope.
''Venus Blood'' is the one I prefer.

Maybe.

I'm sorry for your loss.
Mais j'en ai vraiment putain de rien à branler.
Google translate this, have fun, take care.

Yeah, hard to get much out of that review...

If this part is true, we're all in for a treat:

QuoteI mean, your favorite local band would release a record of this caliber, my guy you would piss on yourself and piss everywhere and you would piss in your own mouth screaming at the genius - gurgling some bubbles by the way.

If you had pissed in your own mouth then you got... that feeling !

Blabbermouth have reviewed Thunderball and gave it 8/10.

QuoteNot many bands retain the ability to dazzle after four decades of active service, but MELVINS are not like other bands. "Thunderball" is as fresh and fearless as anything in the Californians' illustrious catalogue, and you can bang your head to it too, albeit quite slowly.

Buzz Oborne, my man.

I have a feeling once i hear it, my score will also be 8/10. Virtually EVERY new Melvins album feels around that grade to me.

I was thinking today, i wonder why Buzz is so enamoured with this 1983 version of the band. What does he get out of it that he can't get otherwise?? I mean he's planning a 4th Melvins 1983 album and yet we only got one Melvins Lite record?? Does he do this purely to hang out with Mike Dillard!!

amazonAMAZON

Yeah, probably. Mike really seems to bring Buzz to life.

I don't think it has to do with Dillard, or that's the main reason.i think Buzz wants to stay busy, as prolific as possible. Besides Mangled Demos, which sounded as an early incarnation of the band, i guess Melvins 83 since Tres Cabrones is like regular Melvins with a more straight, generic drumming

This album i find myself reviewing the reviews. The blabbermouth review really whet my appetite. Which i reckon is what an advance review can be good at. I've already ordered mine anyway so it didn't sway me. I did enjoy reading it and did not get a headache. That must be why those blabbermouth blokes get paid the big bucks.
