One last update (for this week anyway!):

- Added Halo of Flies from the Vienna 2001 show as this is far superior to the Jelvins album version

You could add Theme(clown Alley) from the 1989-07-22_24 Seattle recording

thanks for uploading

Yeah but there's a studio version of it that doesn't really differ from the live one (apart from a few more lyrics sung live).  The aim of this collection is to highlight songs that haven't had a studio recording or been released on an album.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

Anyone managed to identify that unknown cover from the Winnipeg show yet?

What would be the highest quality known version of this to exist?  I have to re-listen to that now, haven't heard that one in a long long time!!

It's incredible to think there's such an extensive archive of bootleg shows here that you're somehow keeping track of, amazing!!!  I can't keep up.

Agreed. I had no idea this bootleg nether world existed. And I thought I was a fan... Sheesh. Bless your hearts

My favourite part of that show is 17 year old (!) Dale trying to get to get the crowd revved up during Sin City 🤣

Listening to live recordings on shuffle and came across Pipeline(Dick Dale) at Des Moines,IA 2010-06-27.

You mean the Chantays? Or did the Melvins specifically do the SRV/Dick Dale version?

paul51

Yeah the Chantays.. Sorry I always think of Dick Dale when I hear that tune

Nice find and I've added it to the collection.

Nothing like an equipment failure to inspire a cover/jam !

I'd say this version is closer to the Johnny Thunders version than the original or Dick Dale's.

Pedantic note: The Yoko song is "Rising II", a live arrangement that is significantly different from the album Rising version, and was officially released on Yoko's subsequent live album (without the Melvins).

Also, if we're splitting actual ass-hairs, "Cherub" and "Tequila" were both released on the Melvins vs Minneapolis release, but only on the MP3 disc.

Thank you so much for putting this together, rimb. This collection really saved me a lot of toil.

Thanks for the info - we need more Melvins pedants!   :D

The versions of Tequila and Cherub I included are much better than the Melvins v Minneapolis release anyway I'm pretty sure.
