Alright, I'm a man on a mission here. Had never made an account on this forum 'til today.

Over time, and as I started trying to purcahse more stuff, I've come to realize the sheer amount of bootlegs that float around. I make this topic as an earnest attempt to fight bootlegging (the BAD kind), noone wants to pay top price for a subpar product. Especially with a band as obscure with their products as the Melvins.

Originally I was just gonna make a post asking for help on verifying whether a vhs copy of "Salad of a Thousand Delights" was real or not, I'll still do that, just under this line.

--
Recently I came across a vhs copy of Salad, seller let me know a couple of facts about it which I can't verify: 1) That it came from Amazon, as stated by the previous owner. 2) That the vhs insert LOOKS like a boot, but that the band sold it that way at some point. 3) That he got confirmation of the band selling it that way from two people, one of whom "knows buzz".

Now, my issues come not from what he said but from what I saw, I'll attach the pictures so you can judge  yourselves. Some differences I noted from the discogs release and elsewhere: The code on the vhs' label changes from BDV002-A (discogs) to BVD002-A (this copy). The cover looks blown out with general high contrast and glow around the word "Live". The vhs itself comes in a white snapcase (I was told that the og came in a black one.)

Any help appreciated, thanx.

Will check my own copy when I can, but yeah that looks like a bootleg tape. How much was the seller asking?

toilert

about 30 dollars, it seems slightly above average going by last sold in discogs.

I imagine the seller made the tape himself, or whoever was selling it on Amazon made it. The one I have looks like the one on discogs.

I think so too, why even bother though? haha. I guess I'll look for the dvd.
