Wow!  i just saw "them"  do the 2 shows in seattle over new years, and as mentioned above, both nights were 'Spiritual Experiences"  even with the Clown prince of punk (Jello) putting his Bizarre Spin on things it was still Great.
Even the opening bands (local headliners & nardwauer0  were all Great - playing the best sets they could.
Was out last friday night @ the Crock and saw 3 Bands, just makes me appreciate how Damn Special king buzzo and his melvins really are.
So special in fact i have just recently Seen the light and Decided to Begin celebrating king Buzzo's Birthday (posted on here!)  But nobody knows the date of king buzzo's birthday which i find disturbing if not outright Frightening.
 i mean - C'mon, nobody knows the king's Birthday?
U gotta be joking?

matter of fact, i was there for mudhoney last night.   Took a friend who was having a B-day, i got to do all the celebrating.  Love it when that happens.  Ruby Doe really impress me.  mudhoney was pretty Flat last night, you take your chances with those guys.  Sometimes they can get it going and just drive it all the way home, and then - there's nights like last night.

Yeah, I was front left on the stage all night. Ruby Doe was good, Big Business still amaze the hell out of me, the drummer is an animal. Steve Turner of Mudhoney broke I don't know how many strings and they had to keep stopping. They did not seem like they were super into it for some reason but what the hell, it's all good. I told Jared of Big Business that we came all the way from Aberdeen to see them after they blew us away at Neumo's New Year's Eve.

i was impressed with big business myself.  We didn't see them sat'dy night though.  me and my buddy jammed on down to the rendezvous for a couple of beerrs after ruby doe.
But yah!  Big business opened for the melvins a tour or two ago, and i saw them twice.  The first time i was 3 feet away from the drummer on the open side right up front (staking out a spot for the melvins!) and looking right at the bassplayer/singer who was 5 feet away.
They put out some energy allright, and it is pretty good.
But!  i need a guitar, a lead guitar - or else - whatever it is i'm seeing is very incomplewte.
Saw Smoke & smoke for the first time since they formed up, was very dissappointed because i thought the one thing Dead ;low tide needed was more guitar - they had a pretty good thing going, just needed a little more guitar to put me there.  But - what they did was lose the guitar completely, yeah - the dude is a monster drummer, kunka keeps it interesting with a lot of stuff on bass, but UR still stuck with Spencer and his screaming delivery.  They need a guitar to be interesting.
It's prob'ly just me, i'm the one who needs the guitar or else...

This is true and utterly hilarious. Even though I like ...And Justice For All. I have seen the Melvins four times and the one time I saw them in Indianapolis, Indiana, the crowd pretty much sucked as far as their stupid moshing was concerned. Another post here says it's an even mix between people who "want to see" the Melvins and the idiotic devil horned saluting moshers. This is pretty accurate but I think there have been times when the crowd even gets on Buzz's nerves. You will no doubt get a crowd reaction when they bust out songs like Night Goat or Honey Bucket so be prepared if you are in front. I myself prefer to "watch" the Melvins with arms crossed and nodding my head like a hypnotized lamb but will quickly snap out of my stupor when somebody tries to run into me...

I hope you get to see them someday; it's worth it.
