Today I took the step and invited some of my fb-mates who are into alternative music to like the Mighty Melvins, and lo and behold one of them obeyed. Just think what that can mean in kroner, if my fb-mate starts to endulge in the Melvinsian catalogue. Recruit likers, folks! Melvins must round 300.000 fb-likerd and soon they will close in on a million!

a LIKER, not a LOVER?! i have a couple of friends in the liker category too. took me a while to catch on, so there's hope for them yet.

i meant to post this a while back- i was at my doctors office for a check up a few months back and i was wearing a Melvins t shirt. he started asking about it, and i told him that they had been around for 30 years and had just recently played in town. we went into his office and he pulled up some stuff from youtube on his laptop to check out while i was there. a nurse had to come down the hall and close the door to his office because it was a bit loud.

thought that was pretty amusing.

I've spun quite a few tracks of Melvins for this liker and other fbs, and he has responded well.

I think I recruited one. My drummer had been watching youtube clips of some recent stuff, like "A History Of Bad Men". I lent him all my Melvins c.d.s and he says he likes them and will go to the next show. Our new guitarist contacted me after he saw my ad on Bandmix. He said the fact that I listed Melvins, Tomahawk, Mr. Bungle & Sonic Youth as my favorite bands was the reason. He lives a good thirty minute drive away from us and we've played every weekend for five weeks. Can't see that happening if I'd listed Creed, Nickleback & Daghtry as my faves!

Tomahawk as a favourite band? Excellent taste in music indeed. Both you and your new guitarist!

At least we have our awesome taste in music to fall back on. Because we sound like shit! But it's therapeutic for me to play live music, even in a garage, with no audience, sounding like shit! My old lady even tells me how I've been in a much better mood when I have consistant jamming partners around.
