You rule, eggnog too!

eggnog is my favorite by them, they haven't played a song off of it since 2000, i don't get it.

Do you think we could start a movement and get the Melvins to play Charmicharmicat again?

GrimReaper

Well, Hog Leg is on the Neither Here nor There, and Salad can always be dusted off.

The original Boner catalog said about Eggnog: The only true path to Melvins consciousness.
It couldn't be said more accurately.
To be afraid when you are alone, in the dark, faced with the unknown, the unspeakable; that is understandable fear. To be afraid, mortally afraid, in broad daylight, in a crowded city street, that is to know Melvins.

klump

hehe, I think thats one of the few records melvins fans all like :)

Yep, Eggnog blows me away. Have you guys heard the live version of Charmicarmicat? I can't remember what it was on (I downloaded it a few years ago), but it's 5:45 long, good sound quality, and heavy as fuck.

I always laugh when I think about them playing this song when they opened for Nirvana. I have a couple of videos of them playing it and it is SO FUCKING NOISY. The "Kurt rules" kids must have run screaming.

Reverend Ebeneezer

Oh yeah, Eggnog owns...I just wished it was longer. Mind you it covers pretty much all the early Melvins territory in those 4 songs doesn't it?
Don't cut me!DON'T CUT ME!
-Thrones, Simon Legree live...

The Chalupa

good album, but with my playing it on max volume on my stereo would blow the speakers out

It's the best song live, I think. Nothing else can compare to that intensity. Unfortunately I don't have a good quality recording of it...just a few bad ones. But the song still comes through. Heavy as shit. Bring it back to the setlist!

Eggnog is the first Melvins CD I owned... I use to play the first 3 tracks over and over again, but not that "crappy slow last track" - I guess I became a true Melvins fan when I played Eggnog just for that last 'crap' track...

The first Melvins track I ever heard (and on the radio too!) was Hog Leg

hey steve, me too!  well, not the first i heard, but the first i liked.  my friend bought houdini and played the same day it for his first time at my house and it scared the crap out of me.  i didn't like it.  i was at his house soon after that and he put hog leg on as loud as his stereo could go and he instructed me to sit next to it and close my eyes, and pretend it was live.  needless to say, after it ended i was hooked but only wanted to hear more "fast stuff".  so i ordered ozma/gpt and he lent me bullhead (which isn't very fast now that i think about it..), and after many listens of each i became a melvins monster machine.

i've been thinking,  on wispy buzz might be saying: "LIKE SHE KNOWS THE POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPE!"

AND THE VOCAL ON HOG LEG IS FUCKIN.......IT'S TOO COOL FOR WORDS.  THE DIFFERENT VOCAL SOUNDS IS ONE OF BUZZ'S GREATEST ATTRIBUTES EVEN THOUGH HE PROBABLY DOESN'T THINK SO.  I SORTA LIKE HIS SINGIN ON 10 SONGS.

I think the melvins are gonna start putting out more "compact" pieces like HAT in the future...
just "mushing" everything together in a few killer tracks, instead of wimping out and feeling like they HAVE to have more than 8 tracks...
not that they have ever wimped out!

the melvins make me warm inside and fuzzy... the only band that ive you the whole package :)

eddie

Not saying the albums bad, It's just Eggnog is the album i forget the melvins released. I mean the three solo albums and Lysol came out the following year, I just forget Eggnog exists sometimes. Thank God for the Salad DVD!
