so, for all you guitar playing guys out there. what kind of amp settings (i'm talking about treble middle bass) do you guys use to get a melvins sound? i use treble 5, middle 4, bass 8 for the ozma sound (altho it's still doesn't sound completely the same). for the newer stuff i use treble 9, middle 6 and bass 6 (sometimes t8, m6, b5). i'd like to know how buzzo got that sound on ozma, my settings sound pretty close but it's still not close enough

i think to completely get that sound your gonna need a gibson les paul vintage... like 72 or something.

I think they turn thier amps up to 11.

How do you get the sound to the beginning and end of CHARMICARMICAT?
In the tabs it says something like turn on two pedals, or maybe the dist. on the amp and the pedal and have the sounds fight (feed off) each other or something; i don't understand how you would go about doing this? :?

Heres how I play on my Mesa Boogie.
Gain: 10
Treble: 10
Mid: 0
Bass: 0

Any questions?

anyone heard of a cheap amp called "ProAmp"? they make cheap guitars (ProAxe) and amps and the amps have the best sounding distortion on them. really rough sound which im sure youd all love. you dont even need a pedal. if you find one buy it. i got a really small one but i think they have larger ones. phat gnalring sound to drive any neighbour round the twist. great for palm muting.

Lots of distortion is good, but what's really key is a Blue Box peddle. It's made by MXR and what it does is distort the sound and drop it an octave (sometimes two octaves). It's difficult to describe...almost sounds like a broken synth. Fun to play with.

COOL!!!! Prick! Montreal!! ahhaha frere jacques

Heh heh... well, I didn't know there was a recognized group of montreal noise geeks, and if there is I'm not sure if I'm in it. But I guess it's possible. Someone else on this board said noise was fun, and I'd have to say that really echos my sentiments.

If you're noise-o-phobic, you should give Merzbeat a listen (anybody else have any opinions on this album?). It's unlike any other Merzbow album in that it's pretty beat oriented (hence the incredibly inventive title). And it really really rocks.

And I must admit that I think it's cool that there's a melvins song called montreal. I will I knew the story behind that. Is it from a Montreal show?

One final point. The melvins haven't play in Montreal for almost four years, and I'm really fucking pissed. Soon I'll be leaving this city, and if they play australia one more time before playing this part of canada (I'll even settle for Toronto) I'm going to hunt them down and give them a piece of advice they won't be able to ignore. So there!
