At The Stake

That's really a great one, sort of underappreciated. Certainly top ten.
But for now (depending on mood cycles) my top five would be:

The Anti-Vermin Seed
Jew Boy Flower Head
Lovely Butterfly
With Teeth
Hog Leg

No real surprises, but they never fail to excite me.

At the Stake goes on every Melvins compilation I've ever made.

Good stuff. Buzz hardly does anything with his guitar on that track. But he uses it just perfect.

I'll give a firm handshake to any song containing a Rutmanis elephantine freakout.

All 5 of my top 3 are on HAT

heyyyyy..wait a minute...what the? Oh! Well put, condie... kinda like saying  "three of a perfect pair", no?   :)

After seeing the last two shows of this tour.....Night Goat live is absoluckinflutely great.  The buildup makes you feel like your getting ready to rip people in half.

As far as adding 4 more songs.......

Let It All Be
With Yo' Heart Not Yo' Hands
Matt-Alec  ( I wish I knew where that name came from)
With Teeth

I stared this thinking this would be easy.  What a crock of shit.  It's impossible to pick favorites.  With a catalog 20 + years deep and about 1 record a year......I'm supposed to pick out a couple favorites?  Ridiculous.  But for now.....those 5 up there will do.

I'd say: stop thinking. I just call it 'bang my head', Matt-Alec is probably a joke. The A side, Matt-Alec-A, is even more funny.

"Hag Me" was my click song, so I'd have to say that one.

By click song, I mean "Hag Me" was the exact point where my brain had that click moment and I realized what the Melvins were doing and how brilliant they were.  The click moment where I was converted into a Melvins fan.

I love the Sweet Willy Rollbar-into-Revolve combo though, but those are two songs that I can't seem to listen to separate from each other, so that doesn't count.

Yeah, there's got to be a better term for it than "click song."

Whats funny though, is that Houdini was the third album by the Melvins that I bought.  I went through Stoner Witch and Bullhead before I really got it.

But I think Stoner Witch has a more immediate accessability that kept me coming back.  I mean, my dad loves Revolve, and he doesn't like/get the sludgier stuff.

Hog log

Salty Green

Boris
Echo Head/Don't Piece Me
Honey Bucket
Let It All Be
Roman Bird Dog

Vcavallo

click song for me: Hog Leg.
i've already shared the story of how my friend made me sit down next to his speakers at full volume and listen with my eyes closed... it was hog leg.

i bought ozma/gpt and bullhead and liked those a lot but didn't like houdini when i heard it the first time.  it was the first melvins album i heard - before the hog leg thing- and it scared me.  but my friend persisted because he knew i would come around eventually.
i thank him
