I was just reading an psychology article on obsessive collectors.  The writer defined 'obsessive' as collecting every single release, every variation, etc.  The gist of the article was that collecting was a substitution for sexual conquest and gratification.     I'm not sure I agree.  If I can find the article on the internet, I'll post it.
